I really don't for the most part have a problem with how business is conducted here. The whole point in having a message board is having the ability to share our opinions. If we just came here to read what other people were saying, like articles, stats, facts etc... this site would be a whole lot less popular. There are thousands of websites we can go to to read articles. Being able to speak our minds is why we are all HERE. If we could voice our opinions this place would be just like any other. I think we are all too sensitive sometimes. We all bash NBA players, the Lakers all the time, whoever the Spurs are playing. Mods seem to be OK with that as long as it doesn't get too out of hand. Now, we are being told not to "speak negativly" about another website. I must take issue with this. I think we have all been too sensitive at times, and I understand as well as anything how easy it is to take things the wrong way. A lot of things I say are in jest, and certainly not meant to be taken seriously.
Why should you have fear for what the participants who are not on staff at SpursCentral.com have to say? How can you be responsible for what we have to say? I know, you can delte or edit post. But, I've been to other sites and they (the other sites) have much more to worry about that SC.com does.

I've read the Terms of use and I can't find anything specific I have done that would be a violation, though the way the rules are written, dang near anything could be a violation.

My whole point is, I think we are a little too sensitive. Let's not take everyything so seriously.

The problem was that you criticized me for not letting you spreak your mind and accused me of being too sensitive. I had every right to say what I did - we do not like to badmouth other sites on our board. It's bad form. We have never allowed it, and that is all I was saying. You went on to insinuate that nearly everyone who posts here is a mod, which is completely untrue. We enjoy your company, but I am not about to let you tell us how to manage our site or to allow you to unfairly paint the administrators in a poor light.

there are 10 people on staff...so by your calculations, there are 20 posters? All Blondie was trying to emphasize is that we do not like to resort to mudslinging with other sites. What is wrong with that? You think that sinking to the level of Garza is how a site should be run? You are welcome to post here but no one is holding a gun to your head. If it is so bad here.....why do you stay?

Everyone here speaks their own mind. Make no mistake of that. As long as it is relative.

However our history with SR goes way beyond any amount of time you have spent here. There is very, very little you know about this site it's people and history. Which is beyond your control. Fine. As a guest here your opinions are always welcomed. As a regular your opinions are well regarded.

Quote:
though the way the rules are written, dang near anything could be a violation.

Again by design. Ever heard the phrase, "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone." It's just plain smart.

Quote:
, and I understand as well as anything how easy it is to take things the wrong way.

Which is why if a person from a "rival" website were to see that type of of thread... well lets just say we've seen our share of bord wars. It's no fun and annyoying and really we are tired of having ot defend our site's existence.

SpursCentral.com has come a long way in the past couple of years. We are happy to say we are doing it exactly as we see fit.

amen. again if anyone does not like it here...they are not forced to stay but with the number of posters we have (and no, not just the staff here) and the number posters we are gaining on a weekly basis, apparently we are doing something right. The admins here are going to run this site the best way they see fit and do not owe an explanation to anyone. Kori runs her site the way she wants, Garza runs his site his way and Drew runs this site his way...they run their sites how THEY see fit, not me, not you SB or anyone else.

If you reread the post at the top of the screen, you'll find a lot of compliments in it for SpurCentral.com. I'll respond to one comment at a time.

To Blondie: Remember, I hate to complain...? That was my idea of pointing out how people can sometimes be too sensitive. That was me being too sensitive as it was pointed out. I knew you did not mean that comment about Najera to be taken literally or even seriously. I just wanted to express my displeasure with it. Now, the shoes are on the other feet. You can use the above mentioned thread against me if you'd like, but I can use it against all of you as well. I like you, really I do. My comment about how it's gettin' around here was really sarcastic more than anything else. I know that half the posters on this board are not mods, I was just kiddin' around by that comment. You can run this site however you like, my suggestions are only suggestions or comments for you to think about.

To Mikey: Obviously there are more than 20 posters, but it SEEMS, that half the POST are by mods, not half the POSTERS, half the POST. I'm sure if I monitored the board for a while I would be proven wrong. You look at the Posts: # on the left of every post and obviously the mods and admins here by far have the most post. Nothin' is wrong with trying to keep things civil.

Quote:
You think that sinking to the level of Garza is how a site should be run?

No, I don't. That comment sounds like a clear violation of the Terms to me. That is so inappropriate to personally attack Mr. Garza like that. I personally have listened to Mr. Garza on the WOAI post game call in show, and I'd like to "respectfully and intelligently attack his ideas/concepts/thoughts, but certainly not person himself. I do tend to disagree with his opinions quite a bit. His ideas and thought are EXTREMELY Homeristic, and not even close to being objective. His ideas, concepts and thoughts are that the Spurs never make any mistakes and are perfect. If the Spurs lose, it must be because the other team cheated or the refs blew this call and that call. To me it is unrealistic to think that your favorite team NEVER makes a mistake.
There is no need to hold a gun to my head to get me to continue to come to this board and post here. I like it and am not planning to leave anytime soon. I've already mentioned how good this site is compared to some other sites. It's not so bad here, I like it here.
I can live with everything you said in your second post.
To Maorza: No disrespect meant by this, but I really don't care anything about the history of this site except maybe out of curiosity. I'm sure those who started this site had make a lot of personal sacrifices along the way. I've been told that by other webmaster at other websites. I'm sure anyone on staff here make sacrifices of their own. I assume it is all on a volunteer basis. I appreciate anyone who sacrifices their own time, energy, $ or whatever, to run a website that is beneficial to me.

Quote:
Again by design. Ever heard the phrase, "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone." It's just plain smart.

Hey, as long as we have that out on the table.
I don't get why you guys care what other "rival sites" think of your site. I think SpursCentral.com speaks quite well for itself. What is there to defend? Like I've said, if the posters here have an opinion about something, that's their opinions. "Views expressed by users in the SpursCentral Forums and views presented by SpursCentral Columnists in their articles do not necessarily represent the views of SpursCentral.com/SAHoops.net's owner or management." Who cares what other people think?

I'm kidding about everything, it's a joke not meant to be taken seriously. Or it is sarcasm. I like all of you, please don't get your feelings hurt, I sure don't mean it that way.

Quote:
but I really don't care anything about the history of this site

Which is alright. It means only that you are ignorant of the reasons why this board is run the way it is. Having been here as long as we have and having dealt with the many different things that we have has allowed us run a messageboard the way we wish. Or given us the license to do so I should say.

Quote:
I don't get why you guys care what other "rival sites" think of your site. I think SpursCentral.com speaks quite well for itself. What is there to defend?

Very well put.

Since you care nothing about this site's history I will be brief. There was a time that our site was the loudly considered a joke at SR years before it was OAI affiliated. The arrognace that permeated from the other board(s) turned into insults and attacks and board wars here. (Nevermind that 4 writers from SpursCentral were "hired" by SR.) This has been happening for years now. It's gotten old. So I won't have it here anymore. End of discussion.

If it seems that the mods and admins have the most posts, then it is because they have been with us the longest. The majority made mod just recently because of the increased traffic. Understand that this site as little as two years ago didn't have 150 hits a day. Those of us with the most posts were here when there was no one else.

Quote:
Who cares what other people think?

I don't. I care what happens on my board. So if I don't like a particular post, I will say so. Although we've been cool about it lately, IMO.

Now if you knew how much we as admins and mods have had to put up with for four or five years then you might better understand our stance. For now thank you for your post. It has been fun rehashing this yet again.

We are glad you have decided to stay with us.
