I noticed last night that it wasn't working.
Hopefully ezboard will have it back up soon.

I recommend using your Word spell check in place of this one. I have had about four full paragraphs lost before because of Spell check.

ezboards's spell check is working again.
You don't realize how much you use it until it isn't there.

You know if you are not logged in, and decide to post a message, and you do a spell-check, then try to add the post, EZBoard will give an error, something like "Blank Fields...Go Back". Then when you go back to correct it, the message is lost, and it turned out to be the password field that went blank during the spell-check. Is that a bug?

Edited by: MadeFromDust at: 10/15/02 1:11:31 am

Sounds like you're not letting your browser, or its cookies, deliver your password to the site?

Regardless - using Netscape, when I go BACK and find the fields blank I can usually to a 'reload' and recover the field data.

Worst case though, you can just select/copy the comments field before hitting the spellcheck if you fear loss. Of course, that doesn't help the spelling!!

The problem doesn't just occur when you're logged out and you use spell-checking. It also happens if you preview the message: If you are not logged in, and check the preview message box, when you click to add the reply, it will show you the preview, and give you the option to add the reply again without preview. It will fail with an error because it doesn't remember the password you typed from before the preview message screen. You have to go back and retype the password, uncheck the preview message box, then add the post/reply that way.

I know some would say, "Well, just log in". Yeah, yeah, that helps you avoid the problem because your logon info is stored in the EZBoard cookie, but that doesn't fix the bug.

Apparently, this problem is now fixed with the EZBoard 7.0 upgrade currently taking place in phases:

Unregistered users are unable to preview a message - www.ezboard.com

The same problem affected registered users who were logged out. The problem appeared if you used spell-check or the preview or both.

Testing Bug Fix

Postby MadeFromDust on Fri Oct 25, 2002 10:03 am

Just testing...

Nope, still broken. The "Add Post" button in the preview screen gets an error if you're logged out. I think it's because the 7.0 upgrade hasn't been applied to the boards yet. That's the last phase.
