Am I even alive at this point?

The Spurs played like wimps for 2.5 quarters, sure. But read my thread on why the Spurs will win Game 6. The momentum from the 4th will carry over.

Great post Ginofan. You felt exactly the way I felt after last night. I know it's not over yet, but I really don't think Spurs are going to take this series. Maybe it's just me talking after the pain of last night.

Quote:
Dave...even if they didn't get that shot off...can you honestly say the Spurs deserved to win last night?

Gino... who cares if the Spurs deserved to win or not?. Winning is scoring more points than your opponent and that's it. Whether you deserve it or not, a win is a win.
I mean, had we won, we would have done it by one point, which means that the Lakers wouldn't have deserved to win either. Now, even though none of the teams would have deserved to win, the Spurs having scored more points than the Lakers, would have deserved the less to lose.
Besides, it's not always possible to win "pretty". The heart of a champions shows when you can bring things other than skill to the game. It kills me to say it, but the Lakers who beat Portland and Sacramento showed the true heart of a champion, they brought out heart and clutchness in games where they lacked level of play. The Spurs showed that same heart last night, making and incredible comeback and hitting a clutch shot.

The bottom line is that if it hadn't been for the officials, the game would have been ours. From where I see it, there is no way you can twist it.

I want to share a story...

Postby Vallejo21 on Sat May 15, 2004 12:55 am

As most of yall know, I am currently stationed in Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The games usually start around 0500 over here. Well I am on duty from midnight till around 10am. Breakfast is our lunch break and in the chow hall they project the game on the wall. The chow hall is always packed around the time I went, the 4th quarter of the game. I sat down with my breakfast just as Kobe hit that shot to make it 72-71. I was watching the last 5 seconds as Tim Duncan made that miracle shot of his. Little did I know that thousands of miles away my beautiful wife was sitting at home watching it at the exact same time. As Tim Duncan threw in his shot, my wife said to herself "Come on Tim, make one for my baby." The shot went in and I can imagine that me and her jumped up and cheered at the same time. Too bad it ended in heartbreak. I was saddened, especially since I had to go back and tell the rest of my fellow Spurs fans serving with me what had happened, tho they had known because they were keeping up with it on GameChannel on Yahoo. Well its been a day and I am ready for game 6. Like I said before Spurs will play like they are on fire and force a game 7, which may be the best playoff game ever!
