I'm a Spurs fan because David Robinson got me hooked when I was young and just getting into pro sports, because they have a legacy of great players and great people, because Tim Duncan is brilliant, because the fans live and die with them no matter what, and because they win titles...and when they do win, it's a great story because it's proof to the sports world that blue collar play still gets it done over glitz and glamour, and that nice guys can still finish on top!!!!! <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :rock --><img src=http://www.sahoops.net/smilies/rock.gif ALT=":rock"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> <p></p><i></i>

For what it's worth, I actually got to meet David last year. His was touring our school (Texas Military Institute, out by the Dominion) to check it out for when his son gets older. I just said "hi" to him, but he was a really nice guy. He was out there for a good portion of the day and was really kind to everyone who wanted to meet him. <p>+++++++++++++++++++++++<br>

I love the Spurs because my parents took me to games in the late-1970's during the height of the Iceman, Captain Late, Special K, Junior, Bruise Brothers, etc. The atmosphere was incredible back in those days for a hick town like S.A.! Boy was the Arena loud! Boy was the crowd drunk! Boy were the tickets cheap! Ahhhhhh, those were the days! I was hooked then. I became a Spurs fan during the 1976-77 season. I had just been transferred to San Antonio and having come from Great Britain was starved for professional sports--even though I really enjoy watching soccer. I was in the right place at the right time--the Iceman, the Whopper, Brown Sugar, Captain Late, the Bruise Brothers, etc. These guys sold me on the Spurs! Ever since then, there has been a group of great athletes and individuals who have played for this organization--Mike Mitchell, the A Train, Johnny Moore, the Admiral, Sean Elliott (my favorite over the years), and no one can forget the players from the past few years--Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, Barry, Rasho, etc. I keep up with them primarily through the writings, postings, and rantings of the participants on this board. I don't post much, but I read this board faithfully everyday. Thanks to all of the participants here!<br>

Since 1974. My first game was a Spurs-Pacers playoff game in the $6 gold seats at the HemisFair Arena. I'm a fan 'cause they're in SA. Also when I was a kid Gervin and a few others had really bad ass afro's and I thought that was cool as shiiiiyyyyet!<br>

WOW, I remember that poster! I had a smaller notebook size version of it, though.<br>

I have that in the "archives" section (a vanilla envelope sitting in my closet). My whole wall is covered with posters, to the point where I had to remove some old ones to make room for new ones. <p>+++++++++++++++++++++++<br>
