The last time on the court SJ stole a pass intended for Devin and put up a brick when Devin had an open shot.

One of the other players just looked and turned his hands up in the air.

I guess I should have said IMO

No way we take a backcourt player

I wouldn't be so sure. Among some of the players the Spurs are rumored to have had their eye on are SF Aleksandar Pavlovic, SF Victor Khryapa (before he withdrew), SF/SG Carlos Delfino, and SG Travis Hansen.

Still, you would think that with Kendrick Perkins, Ndubi Ebi, Zaur Pachulia, or Vranes still on the board, the Spurs could be faking small and thinking big.

Needs

Maggette would give the team a scoring 3 — something Bowen is not — and Olowokandi could take Robinson's spot in the middle. Either way, those two positions will need to be addressed this offseason

Options: The Spurs are considering Polish F Szymon Szewcyk, Georgian F-C Zaur Pachulia, Xavier F David West, Mississippi State F Mario Austin, Beaumont Ozen HS C Kendrick Perkins, Park Christian HS C James Lang, Westbury Christian HS F Ndubi Ebi, Starkville HS F Travis Outlaw or Serbian C Slavko Vranes at No. 28. The backcourt is already strong, but if they elect to take the best player on the board, then, Alabama G Maurice Williams, Argentine G Carlos Delfino, Serbian G-F Aleksandar Pavlovic, Bosnian G Zoran Planinic or French G-F Boris Diaw could be in the mix.

The braintrust says: "We've got some roster open and we're going to look at making some good decisions on filling those out to complementing the players we now have." Director of player personnel Sam Schuler

John Calipari had some good comments on Howard and Perkins. It'd be nice if the Spurs were able to trade down tonight, and get a couple of second round picks since the draft is deep. A trade is easier said then done. I'd be happy with Perkins or Howard if the Spurs keep thier pick tonight.

www.nba.com/allaccess/calipari_draftanalysis_030623.html

Quote:
Josh Howard, G-F, Wake Forest: "A do-everything, athletic guy who can really "get his own" in terms of scoring and points. I think he really benefitted from staying all four years in college. He led his team his senior year, so he understands how to take over games."

Ranked fourth best senior prospect

Quote:
Kendrick Perkins, C: "Will go in the first round. He's about 6-10, but his wingspan makes him roughly 7-4. People are questioning his lift and his body, et cetera. But he has an unbelieveable, competitive spirit. He lost about 25 pounds in the last month just to show his dedication. And there just aren't that many big guys out there. He's a beautiful kid who says yes sir and no sir. He does whatever you want. Incredible attitude."

Ranked third best high school prospect.

I think Calipari's comments say a lot about Perkins and himself. Perkins had made a comitment to Calipari to play at Memphis before he entered the draft

I know that the Spurs have worked out Perkins a few times. A high schooler needs the right people around him and the Spurs surely have that.

Get used to it World, because it's only the beginning.

The draft day buzz from nbadraft.net:
Quote:
2:33 EST Kendrick Perkins has a promise in the first round and it's likely from San Antonio.
There's a lot of talk that either the Celtics (at #20) or the Spurs (at #28) will take Perkins. See the Spurs Dominion thread on Perkins for more.

Vowel-deficient! :lol

That's the problem with drafting so many Eastern Europeans. Eventually the "NBA" is gonna become the "NBSCZR". Damn, I'm starving for some good old-fashioned vowels, too!

Yes we did, but we traded it away to the Suns for a future first round pick. Two things here, first, there was nobody the Spurs really wanted, and two, the Spurs did not want to tie up an additional cap space.
