| Listening to Sports Talk SA, Don was saying that for one thing, the Spurs evidently think that the buyout for Scola is too much. He also said that he has heard rumblings that the Spurs may not be as high on him as some of us are and that they may have even looked into trading his rights.

| I know I migth get jumped for saying this, but I wonder what a package of Tony Parker and Luis Scola would land us... if it landed us a "next in line" type of big man, I would be happy for San An to go through with it.

| Trade Parker? No way. I can guarantee the Spurs won't trade Parker. The only players the Spurs would trade are Rasho and Nazr.

As much as I like to see a countryman of mine join the NBA, I don't think this a good move for the Spurs.
Oberto is on the downhill on his career, he ain't exactly an upgrade for the reigning champs. Scola would have been a much smarter move.
Despite being 5 years younger, Luis is much better than Oberto ever was.

Walter Herrmann is the Fabio look-alike, not Fabrico Oberto. Oberto looks like . . nobody other than Oberto.

Scolas buy-out is a reported 14.5 million now....no way in hell a team is going to deal with that. However, after the next three years the buy-out will drop to 1 million. Thus, it looks like the Spurs won't have Scola for a good while and it will be difficult to trade his rights.
As of now, the Spurs have:
Half the MLE (3 years; 7.5 million for Oberto)
The LLE
and the Vet. Minimum

| Look for the Spurs to sign a SF with the MLE (yeah, i think Devin is gone) and the Spurs using the LLE on a point guard.

Why would Devin be gone? The Spurs wouldn't have to use any of their exceptions because they have Devin's early bird rights. Now, I could see them passing on Devin if he is offered a little more than the Spurs think he is worth, but that has not occured yet.
I could see the rest of the MLE going to a back-up SF just for insurance...if Devin leaves for an outrageous offer or if the Spurs feel his injury would be too much to deal with, but thats been cleared by doctors. (Possible SF's: Big Dogg, Gerald Wallace, Maurice Evans, Walter Hermann, etc...)
We can bring back Wilks with the LLE.

I love this scenario. Once Timmy, Oberto, Horry and others are getting a older and little more over the hill in three years, bring in Scola in his prime.
Scola is our spare ammo that will come right WHEN WE NEED HIM and for much less financially. I love this organization. We are set for years.

| Who knows....Maybe Ian (C) and Sanikidze (SF) both who are under 20 years of age will be ready to go as well. Both show ton's of promise and both are athletic players.

^In having to pay a $14.5 million buyout of his contract to Tau Ceramica, Scola actually would not have been a better move!
I don't think that at 30 years old he's on the downhill yet. If anything, he should be reinvigorated playing in the NBA with Manu and behind Tim Duncan.
Excellent move!
