There was one between Broad Street and Park Place....my sister's best friend used to work there during the day as an accountant. I think it was Hippodrome (again..may be wrong on the name) ....I know this because through that place, her husband and I got tickets to see UT play SMU at the Dome.

There was a Hippodrome was off of Nakoma, but that was back in the early 90's whjile BroadStreet was still open.

BroadStreet may have been called that too at one point, but I'm pretty sure it went straight to Park Place. My sister and I used to go there all the time.

A bunch of old school Spurs used to hang out at Zig Zags which later turned into Rockwave and is now an Academy store.

There was also YoYos on Blanco and Pirahnas on 410 right after Vance Jackson - the missions and Texans(minor league football) used to hang out there.

The best place to see Sports Stars in town used to be Dick's Last Resort on the RiverWalk. I have met/harrassed many a well known figure there :P

I never got to eat at Puffin' Billy's but I remember seeing the ad in the newspaper every week. Didn't it have this skinny cowboy eating a hamburger?

A must for every San Antonian is Cool Crest mini-golf!! I went earlier this summer and it's in spectacular shape. It was built in 1937 - can you believe that? I thought it was built in the 50's. The banana trees make the whole place! :)

Believe it or not you can also get a Bongo Joe CD. I'm really dating myself now but Bongo was a staple downtown for years as a street musician. I used to go listen to him when I got off work at the first Marriot while in high school.

:cheers

Floyd's burgers are still 5 for 2.25 on Goliad.

TaCasita was great. We used to go to the one on Wurzbach all the time. They painted it gray and I don't remember anything using that building since. I have no idea what is there today.

That gray building was the original location of the two that were right there...they changed to a TaCasita when the one just up the hill opened as Taco Cabana. When the company got back together, they closed the old one and kept the new. The old one was never re-opened as anything.

I can't believe you know about Floyd's. I ate there a few times when it was 5 for $1.89. I used to mainly go eat at a hole-in-the-wall place across the street called Taco Hut which had 5 puffy tacos also for $1.89 around '94 or '95. According to the menu you could order "meat" or "chicken" puffy tacos. :lol Taco Hut never made it to SA institution status, unfortunately. They moved to a slicker EZ's style place on I37 and Hot Wells in '96 or '97 and raised the price of the puffy tacos to $2.89. Then they went broke.

I miss those puffy tacos. They put Henry's to shame.

I still do Floyds when I'm in the area. There is something special about that greasy paper bag.
