Looks like snow.
It must be unpleasant to breathe that stuff in.

And now I finally understand what your forum name means :)

lmao...I thought it would be pretty easy to guess? haha I've had this screen name since 2003.

Yeah it looks like dirty snow, but it is harmful to breath it in, we had an ashfall advosory till 1 a.m. last night and the airport has been shut down till further notice, all this ash in the air can be really harmful to plane engines, as well as car engines so peopple are realy trying not to drive unless absolutely neccesary

I live in SW Washington and was here when Mt. St. Helens erupted. I was pretty young so I don't remember much about it. I do rember ash in the streets though.

This is a picture of ash making it through the atmosphere;

I have been carrying around a glass full of ash from Mt St Helens when it erupted in 1980. It's hard to believe that it's been almost 29 years, seems like it was just yesterday.

It is a mess to clean up - have to get it wet and scoop it up like mud.
What we do very well is, we don't mess it up (except in even numbered years)

that sucks... where a mask or something when you go outside. ashes and debris are horrible, it so hard to breathe. i remember when i was like 5 or so when i still live in the philippines there was a huge volcanic eruption, i forgot the volcano's name, but it was crazy. it doesn't snow there, so i thought that is was snow and was really excited! hahah
