Bowen for Harrington??

Bowen for Harrington??

Postby Zan the Fan on Wed Jul 12, 2006 10:20 am

Would you be willing to give up Bowen and Barry for Al Harrington? Or sub Barry for Beno since they need help at the PG spot in ATL.

I mean I guess what I'm getting at is......is there any way you'd give up Bowen and any combo of the Spurs spare parts (basically anyone except Parker, Manu, and Duncan) in return for Harrington.

My thoughts are that the NBA is shying away from defense, and multi-position players like Harrington are thriving with the new rules (see Boris Diaw, Josh Howard, etc.)

So, Bowen + fill in the blank for Harrington.....yes or no?
Bowen for Harrington??

Postby SpursFanIsrael on Wed Jul 12, 2006 10:22 am

I'd say yes.I like Bowen and he is one of the best defenders ever but he is 35 and if we can get a younger SF who is better I'd say go for it.The Warriors would never do that trade but still.

Absolutely. Does Atlanta have any interest in Bowen?

It wouldn't be enough to trade just Beno and Bowen. That would make the salary too low. I don't think Harrington is looking for a huge paycut.

I agree that any trade combination of Bowen and spare parts would be great (Barry, Beno, Horry, Williams, Oberto), but I don't think Fin should be put on the block. He's a bargain and he signed with the Spurs to play for the Spurs. Maybe you could say the same thing about Horry, but he already won a ring with the Spurs, and really looks like he might be ready for retirement.

Oh, and I do think the Spurs like Bonner so I doubt he'll be involved in a trade.

Bowen for Harrington??

Postby Zan the Fan on Wed Jul 12, 2006 4:43 pm

Well, the trend in the NBA points towards the Spurs not being allowed to do what they do. The Bruce Bowen defense is the bane of the NBA.....wouldn't it be wise to get rid of him if the NBA has made it so clear that he is their 'enemy'?
That's true but just because I don't want him traded doesn't mean it isn't for a good reason......
Bowen for Harrington??

Would be a VERY regretful trade in my mind, if you sent Bruce anywhere. Just my opinion. He's an untouchable along with TD, Manu and TP...but again...that's just my opinion. But I feel very strongly about it. The opinion. About Bruce...

Bowen for Harrington??

Bowen should never be traded!

He's essential to our game plan - and he'll adjust if needed to get along with the refs.

I feel Bowen should be given every chance to retire with the Spurs.

Oh, and to point out what's obvious to anyone who reads my posts (I don't know anything about the league) - I've never heard of Harrington.
