Yeah, Obie was fun to watch tonight. He was even in the game during the last minute of regulation time, a shock considering that he is clearly the worst free thrower we have. Nobody would have thrown him the ball but it was shocking nevertheless.
Other than the fact that playing against Phoenix's defense last year even make Nazr look like an All-Star, it's hard not to like what we're seeing from Oberto. He has his limitations to be sure. But he also has skills that neither Rasho or Nazr have. Mainly....movement and passing skills.
Obie had a couple of sweeet bounce passes in the lane tonight. And his movement without the ball no doubt traces back to his Argentinian soccer-loving background. Needless to say, the Spurs will take all the layups under the basket and dirty work that Oberto will give them. In just his 2nd season, Oberto had more of an impact on this game than Rasho did in any game he ever played for us.
In my opinion, tonight Oberto was the X-factor if not the Player of the Game.
