Kawhi Leonard to play with Jimmer Fredette in All Star Game

As reported earlier San Antonio Spurs Kawhi Leonard would be playing in Las Vegas, but according to new sources Leonard will also be playing in a NBA rookie All Star game with Sacramento Kings Jimmer Fredette on Sept. 21 at the Maverik Center in West Valley City and Sept. 22 at the Marriott Center in Provo Utah.

Jimmer Fredette to play in exhibitions

SALT LAKE CITY -- Former San Diego State standout Kawhi Leonard will mix it up again with ex-BYU star Jimmer Fredette after agreeing to serve as captain of the opposing team in two exhibition games during the NBA lockout.

The games are set for Sept. 21 at the Maverik Center in Salt Lake City and Sept. 22 at Provo's Marriott Center.

Leonard was the 15th overall pick in July's NBA draft by the San Antonio Spurs. Fredette was college basketball's player of the year last season and 10th overall pick by the NBA's Sacramento Kings.

Leonard led San Diego State to back-to-back Mountain West Conference championships and consecutive NCAA tournament appearances. He will be reunited with coach Steve Fisher in the exhibition games.

Kemba Walker and Nolan Smith also have agreed to participate.

SDSU's Leonard gets best of Fredette

Leonard even showed up recently on consecutive mornings at the Aztecs' practice facility in San Diego with two lights from home because the building was still dark in the offseason.

"It wasn't like arena lighting, but it was enough for us to see the rim," said Leonard, who has added about 15 pounds of muscle to prepare for life with the San Antonio Spurs.

Leonard looked good, although he was the captain, he didn't command the ball a lot; and a number of times as he drove to the basket he made the extra pass to an open teammate. He still needs to work on his jumper; but decent ball handler (much better than RJ).
