Mavs still looking for first win

I know they'll get better, but they really look out of sorts right now. Kind of funny to see Nelly school them, especially with Cuban being such a jerk to him.

What the Mavs really need is some experience, maturity, and leadership!   They just can't hang with the Spurs on that, and that's why they won't get past them this season.

An 0-3 start for the Mavericks? I LOVE IT!

There is nothing greater in the basketball world than watching Mark Cuban outsmart himself! Scheduling the Western Conference banner ceremony is just the latest example. If Darko Milicic was the Human Victory Cigar for the Detroit Pistons, then Mark Cuban is the Human Exploding Cigar for the Dallas Mavericks.

Cubie should have done his homework better. He could have scheduled the banner ceremony for the 1st home game playing against his hated archrival who, with more than a little help from the referees, his Mavericks had managed to play evenly last season and in the 2nd round playoff series. After all, it isn't as if he can hide from the Spurs fans hatred of him and the Spurs players motivation to beat Dallas back down this season. By not having the ceremony during the 1st home game, wasn't he just admitting to his fear of the Spurs?

So instead, Cubes took the easy way out and scheduled the banner ceremony for the Mavericks 2nd home game against the Golden State Warriors, a team that the Mavericks managed to lose to 3 times last season. A team coached by an X-factor in Don Nelson, someone extremely motivated to stick it to his old owner in a big way in his first trip back. Not to mention the fact that Nelson probably knows more than a little bit about the tactics that the Mavericks and Avery Johnson employ on a night-to-night basis.

Once again, Cuban looks like an idiot.

Geez, first game of the season, Howard is hit with a flagrant, and last night both Avery and JET were ejected.

Well, I think this is amusing....

Sorry Cuban's little plan to reveal the banner didn't work out!

Now the Mavs have to go on the road to the Clippers and Phoenix back to back. It is a very real possibility that this team starts 0-5. The next game is against the Blazers also on the road. The Mavs already trail Bran's Jazz by 3.5 games.

Josh Howard is now expected to miss the next 2 weeks (at least 6 games) with a sprained ankle.

IMO they will win one of these games. I really don't believe in their 0-5 start. But I wouldn't be worry when this really happen :mhihi:

Something must be wrong with this team. I know that Howard's injury can be a problem, but Mavs still are a strong team. Their start is a bigger surprise for me than a Utah's one...

Don't forget that the Mavs ended last season with 4 losses as well. They have now lost 7 times in a row! They are really getting used to losing. When is the last time the Mavs (or the Spurs for that matter) lost 7 in a row?

Oh, now that's 8 losses in a row. The new-old Mavs will be lucky to make WCF this season.

I do think the Mavs will get better, but they are digging themselves a hole, and really learning how to lose. Now that Howard is out for a while how long until they get their first win? How long until they get to .500?

Well the Mavs beat the Suns tonight. They almost let it slip away but got bailed out by a Terry jumper and a moving pick by Amare. Second game of a back to back and in Phoenix, not bad. We will see what they do from here, Portland is the next test.

It's pretty cool that our biggest threats in the West (Phoenix and Dallas) are both floundering.

If Phoenix hadn't been on a back to back they would have won that one. Nash was just tired and sore. He had something like ten (mostly unforced) turnovers.
