NBA, players’ labor negotiations will resume Wednesday

NBA, players’ labor negotiations will resume Wednesday

Postby Blondie on Mon Aug 29, 2011 7:51 pm

NEW YORK — Two people with knowledge of the plans say the lead negotiators for the NBA owners and players will meet Wednesday for just the second time since the lockout began.

Commissioner David Stern, deputy commissioner Adam Silver and San Antonio Spurs owner Peter Holt, who leads the labor relations committee, will take part, as will players’ association executive director Billy Hunter and union president Derek Fisher of the Lakers, two people told the Associated Press on Monday on condition of anonymity because the talks are supposed to be confidential.

The sides last met Aug. 1, exactly one month after the lockout was imposed. Stern was disappointed by the players’ position and has said there must be progress by Labor Day. The sides remain far apart on numerous financial issues. Training camps are scheduled to start in October.

Nothing is going to happen until the players realize that a hard cap will be coming and despite Garnet's statement you can not trust the owners but you can players. I about fell out of my chair laughing so hard.

Please just like the NFL holdout just relax and accept basketball will not be played this year. Take everything said by both sides with a grain of salt and realize the truth lies somewhere in the middle

Only truth I see, is we know the Lakers cheat. What salary cap right? The NBA likes it when the Lakers cheat, because they get kickbacks for every dollar the Lakers spent over the salary cap.

Nowadays, if you are a stinky team that drafts the best rookie, more often then not the young man walks to the podium with a pouty look on his face. Because he knows he'll be playing in front of maybe 1500 home fans that aren't gonna buy his jersey, when he was just splashing it in front of a packed college arena full of ruckus.

All them empty seats, and stinky teams still must meet exceedingly high salary regulations to match somewhere in the ballpark of what the Lakers claim they spend. There's only one side I'm looking at that's being honest. And that's the majority of owners that have had no choice but to throw the NBA into it's current tailspin.
