In 1966, an all-black team from Texas Western College defeated the all-white Adolph Rupp-coached University of Kentucky team in the finals of the Men's NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament. One of the stars of that history-making Texas Western team, Nevil Shed, talks with Bill Goodman on the next edition of One to One, airing Friday, Nov. 24 at 10/9 p.m. CT on KET2.
That famous game was recently portrayed on the silver screen by Jerry Bruckheimer in the film Glory Road, and Shed's image appeared on the box of Wheaties cereal celebrating the 40th anniversary of the win.
In the interview, Shed, of San Antonio, Texas, and Goodman talk about the game, his NBA career with the Boston Celtics and his life after basketball, where he has been a successful school and college administrator. Today he is coordinator of student programs at the University of Texas-San Antonio, as well as a motivational speaker and consultant for the San Antonio Spurs.
One to One is a KET production, produced by Bill Goodman and Cindy Asher.
