Phil Has Heard Enough Complaining About LB's Contract From Popovich
Chicago Tribune -
Phil Jackson has heard enough from Gregg Popovich about the 'injustice' of Larry Brown receiving just $18.5 million of the $40 million his contract that was owed to him.
"If [Brown's settlement] was a concern to people, Popovich probably should have weighed in on [Donald] Sterling about two or three coaches ago when he was breaking all their contracts. That was the time he should have been backing up coaches, not about a $40 million situation that ends up with $18 million. It's about guys that were owed $500,000 or $600,000 who needed that kind of money."

Feuding coaches
Who says the fighting is over near the Alamo? Coaches Isiah Thomas and Gregg Popovich were yelling and cursing one another during Saturday's Knicks-Spurs game after Bruce Bowen apparently stepped under Jamal Crawford, a move players have accused Bowen of using to cause sprained ankles and that the league said it will examine. At one point Thomas yelled at Crawford, "Next time he does that, break his feet!"
Don't forget that Thomas fired Popovich's close friend Larry Brown. Popovich said Brown's settlement for less than half his contract should send a chill through NBA coaches. But another old foe, Phil Jackson, wondered why Popovich wasn't so upset when the Clippers allegedly were trying to get out of paying Bill Fitch. Said Jackson, who has been in tweaking matches with Popovich in several playoff series: "If [Brown's settlement] was a concern to people, Popovich probably should have weighed in on [Donald] Sterling about two or three coaches ago when he was breaking all their contracts. That was the time he should have been backing up coaches, not about a $40 million situation that ends up with $18 million. It's about guys that were owed $500,000 or $600,000 who needed that kind of money." And it's just the first month of the season.
