Phil Has Heard Enough Complaining About LB's Contract From Popovich

Chicago Tribune -
Phil Jackson has heard enough from Gregg Popovich about the 'injustice' of Larry Brown receiving just $18.5 million of the $40 million his contract that was owed to him.

"If [Brown's settlement] was a concern to people, Popovich probably should have weighed in on [Donald] Sterling about two or three coaches ago when he was breaking all their contracts. That was the time he should have been backing up coaches, not about a $40 million situation that ends up with $18 million. It's about guys that were owed $500,000 or $600,000 who needed that kind of money."

Feuding coaches

Who says the fighting is over near the Alamo? Coaches Isiah Thomas and Gregg Popovich were yelling and cursing one another during Saturday's Knicks-Spurs game after Bruce Bowen apparently stepped under Jamal Crawford, a move players have accused Bowen of using to cause sprained ankles and that the league said it will examine. At one point Thomas yelled at Crawford, "Next time he does that, break his feet!"

Don't forget that Thomas fired Popovich's close friend Larry Brown. Popovich said Brown's settlement for less than half his contract should send a chill through NBA coaches. But another old foe, Phil Jackson, wondered why Popovich wasn't so upset when the Clippers allegedly were trying to get out of paying Bill Fitch. Said Jackson, who has been in tweaking matches with Popovich in several playoff series: "If [Brown's settlement] was a concern to people, Popovich probably should have weighed in on [Donald] Sterling about two or three coaches ago when he was breaking all their contracts. That was the time he should have been backing up coaches, not about a $40 million situation that ends up with $18 million. It's about guys that were owed $500,000 or $600,000 who needed that kind of money." And it's just the first month of the season.

Feuding coaches? Isiah is a coach? Somebody better tell him to start coaching that awful team then. I never thought I'd see an NBA team play 4 shoot-first point guards at the same time. I could have sworn I say Marbury, Francis, Crawford, and Robinson out there with Mr. Turnover, Eddy Curry.

It's great that these two articles are combined into the same thread. How long until Isiah is involved in his own contract dispute with the NY Knicks???

Larry Brown's drama queen tendencies aside, Phil's just turning into a shriveled up old crab. There was a time when he could get into the Spurs heads but that was more than two Spurs championships ago. Fat chance now.

Oh yeah, and he'll never pass up Red Auerbach in the ring category. Retire and STFU, Philip.

HaHaHa..Phil Jackson is still talking crap!! Nothing changes, never worrying about his own team but has the answers for everybody elses. I'm sure Isiah is thinking about collecting his money cause the Knicks are looking to go bankrupt on a team with nothing but SGs and bad attitudes.

I don't think Pop is making anything of it. We played the Knicks twice in a week and the NY media has to have some story line to talk about ad nauseum. I find it odd that Phil would have any comment about it at all considering it doesn't concern him in the least bit.

I think that there is some resentment of Pop from Jackson. Phil's ego is unprecedented. Pop is cut out of an entirely different mold than Phil Jackson. As Pop finally gets his due from the national media, I think Phil is a little jealous. I doubt his ego can accept that another coach in the league is as successful as he is.

That remark is totally personal and totally gratuitous. Can't wait for the Lakers to come to town.
