Rasual Butler
Ryan Gomes (Clippers)

Added RJ to the list until both start hitting 3s consistently and/or traded...

I know Childress has been praised for his defensive skills, size and quickness on the break.

Interesting thing about that list are the shooters: Korver-Miller-Butler.
Who of those 3, if you are a team in need of a shooter, who would you pick?
Maybe Butler because he's the better defender of the 3?

now Barnes and Butler are my last hope for the Spurs to pick up a 6'7 SF. Also I'm rooting for James Gist to play well during the Spurs summer league, hopefully this is the year he finally makes the transition from a college PF to strictly a SF. If he can handle the ball well and shoot the 3, he would be a great piece to add at 6'9, he has good size.

Over in europe he really mastered the weak side block, he also needs to prove that he can defend well on the perimeter. Hopefully he gets a lot of minutes.

Who's the latest Miami castoff who could be joining another contender?

Try James Jones.

A source told FanHouse on Tuesday that San Antonio is taking a hard look at signing Jones, a free-agent forward whose contract was bought out by Miami last month in order to help the Heat clear cap room. It worked out well since the Heat got LeBron James and Chris Bosh to join forces with Dwyane Wade.

Already, contenders Orlando and Boston have signed Quentin Richardson and Jermaine O'Neal, respectively. Both played last season with the Heat.

While Jones averaged just 4.1 points last season for the Heat, he has averaged as much as 9.3 in 2005-06 with Phoenix. He's a career 39.5 percent three-pointer shooter, and the Spurs have always liked players who can spread the floor.

The Spurs have about $2.4 million available from their mid-level exception after signing Tiago Splitter on Monday to a three-year, $11 million deal and their $2.08 million biannnual exception. The source said Jones would sign for more than the minimum if a deal can be finalized with San Antonio.

I really wanted the Spurs to sign him when he was a FA for the Pacers but he has had some injury problems lately, if he is healthy I'd be ok with the signing.

I never heard of James Jones, so I looked him up. He's a pretty good free throw shooter, and was once a good 3 point shooter. There's not much else to say for him, but maybe I need to read between the lines. I still like Matt Barnes and Raja Bell.

Wow. What have you done for me lately syndrome? The Spurs have had the best front office in professional sports over the past decade and this is the respect Buford gets?? Buford is a "moron"? Are you freaking serious? I don't even know where to begin with this comment. Hopefully you had a momentary lapse of reason. Because if you stand by this statement then you might want to re-evaluate who the moron is.

hmmm. i'd love to get Raja Bell more than Jones because he is a much better defender who can really piss off the offensive player, ask Kobe. plus he shoots the three decently. tho not Bowen, but close.

Kobe is gonna meet with Bell to persuade him to join the lakers... so yeah, most likely bell would be out of the picture for the spurs

NBA front-office sources say that Bell continues to draw interest from a variety of playoff teams, such as Miami, Dallas and San Antonio. One source said signing with the Heat has essentially been ruled out because of Miami's financial constraints after signing LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Mike Miller to flank the re-signed Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem. But the Suns are also weighing the prospect of trying to bring Bell back.

Bryant, though, has not abandoned his pursuit and continues to press Bell to join the Lakers, who have only $1.8 million of their mid-level exception left to offer Bell next season after signing Steve Blake.

I like the part where the Fakers have less money to offer than we do.
