Spurs FA abilities after Splitter?

Spurs FA abilities after Splitter?

Postby Pitter on Mon Jun 28, 2010 8:14 pm

Need some help here from those of you that follow these things more closely than I do.

If we sign Splitter to a FA contract (I read that we'll have to give him essentially our mid-level exemption) what ability, if any, will we have to sign any new players? I have heard that if we sign Splitter we'd have no other room to bring anyone else in. Is that true? I suppose our hope would be one of the D-League guys... Gee, Hairston, etc... would feel some needs. Where does that leave us?

I was a bit concerned about that too Pitter. I read that he can ask more than a rookie can since it has been so long since he was drafted - the Spurs will have to use their MLE on him they want to get him....

Spurs still have their LLE which is worth around 2 million per year for a maximum of 2 years.

Added RJ to the list until both start hitting 3s consistently and/or traded...

:bang: I was hoping he would opt out. Never know though. A lot of Spurs pick ups played poorly the first year and great the 2nd. Being that this year will be a contract year for him he better bring it.
