Spurs draw interst in Jazz Collins

Postby SpursFanIsrael on Fri Jul 07, 2006 12:20 pm

From Desert News:The San Antonio Spurs have emerged as a potential suitor for Jazz free-agent center Jarron Collins, according to a report in the Deseret News.

The Jazz have said they want to re-sign Collins, who has spent his entire five-year NBA career in Utah.

The team, however, also has indicated it will not overpay for Collins, who made $1.7 million while averaging 5.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game last season.

Collins, meanwhile, is testing the league's recently opened free-agency market — and apparently drawing some interest from San Antonio, where the local paper calls the Stanford product "the top NBA free-agent center left on the market."
Spurs draw interst in Jazz Collins

we dont want him, he is f***ing garbage, he is worse than Mohammed and Nesterovic, c'mon now, there are better players out there, do a trade or something, get Dalembert or possibly Wilcox, but I think that he will sign with the Bulls or get traded.

Wilcox is not worth the 10 million a year he is asking

Stats
Year GMs MPG FG% FT% 3PT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG
02-03 46 10.4 52.1 50.0 - 2.3 0.5 0.2 0.3 3.7
03-04 65 20.6 52.1 70.0 0.0 4.7 0.8 0.5 0.3 8.6
04-05 54 18.6 51.4 61.1 - 4.2 0.7 0.5 0.4 7.9
05-06 77 19.9 57.1 73.2 0.0 5.3 0.7 0.4 0.4 8.1

CAREER 165 17.1 51.8 63.4 - 3.9 0.7 0.4 0.3 7.0

So he wants 10 million a year for a 29 game run of 14.1 points and 8.2 rebounds at the end of a season on a lame duck team.

I don't get the 10 million a year demand
Spurs draw interst in Jazz Collins

Collins is actually pretty good. he's not a huge stat guy, but he does a lot of little things. like last year I think he lead the league in drawing charges.

Great !!, more flopping for your team, I guess he will teach a thing or two to ginobili and oberto, or maybe the other way around ?.. this team is being built around floppers and foreigners who can't make a FT... lol

Did you say flopping? I think i saw Jason Terry and Dirk flopped so much that the referies stopped calling offensive fouls in the finals.

Now if the referies had done that in Western Finals, then definitely the Spurs would of won.

Up to now, the Mavs and their sorry fans are crying and whining about Wade getting to the line so much. I do recall Dirk being on the line so much in the Western Conference Finals, that even the commentators were shocked. He was on the line more than the whole Spurs team.

So Mavs fans get the hell out of the forum and go to your sorry ass team's forum!

Quote:
"Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens." - Jimi Hendrix

At this point I would agree Collins is one of the best FA centers left. If we could sign him for $2.5 - 3 million per (3 years), that would be cool.

At this point the Spurs need a young body at center. I guess this guy is about as good as they'll at this point in time.

Yeah, I'd go with him at this point too. Not too many guys out there left. I'd take him over a Lorenzen Wright or Cato. Let's just get someone halfway decent though to help Tim out down low!

Hold off on Collins as much as you can. He's Nazr Lite. The last girl left at the dance. Two year contract with a team option.
Yeah! Imagine that - a guy with a screen name which includes "Dirk" talking about flopping and teams built around foreigners. Hypocrite.

The truly shocking part of that is that Dirk mostly shoots jump shots and fade-aways. It's not like he was getting hammered in traffic. They would call a foul on Bowen if he so much as whispered to the Diggler.
