An easy Spurs win. Heat without Shaq are not the same team, but it's their problem.

And this is kind of game when bench players can play longer. I've just noticed that three players that played the longest time are Bruce, Beno and Brent. Tim, Tony and Manu played about 22 minutes each. When the playoffs come, our best players will not be as tired as other ones - and that's our advantage :jam2:

Time to beat Dallas!!!

Duncan and Spurs crush Heat

San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Tim Duncan scored 19 points and Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili each contributed 17 as the San Antonio Spurs routed the Miami Heat, 106-86, at the AT&T center.

Duncan was 9-of-17 from the floor and grabbed six rebounds while Parker had five boards and four assists.

Brent Barry added 15 points off the bench and Beno Udrih had 13 for the Spurs, who have won four in a row.

San Antonio shot 49 percent (41-of-83) from the field.

"One good thing about the game is we kept our focus," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "Miami has some tough circumstances with guys being hurt. The main thing we can take away is we kept our focus during the game."

Dwyane Wade poured in 18 points on just 7-of-17 shooting with six helpers and Earl Barron posted 15 points off the bench for the Heat, who have dropped five of their last six contests.

Alonzo Mourning added 10 points as Miami lost its ninth straight in San Antonio.

"The second quarter we just stop playing," Heat head coach Pat Riley stated. "We got frustrated, we went from competing in the first quarter to stop communicating with each other, and then we started to complain."

The Spurs opened up a 10-3 spurt, capped by a Parker jumper early in the contest. San Antonio held its lead until Jason Kapono's layup put Miami up 18-17 with 1:17 to play. Michael Finley, though, nailed a fade away jumper in the final minute for the one-point edge.

In the second frame, Gary Payton drained a jump shot to cut the Heat's deficit to four, 25-21 with 8:37 remaining, but the Spurs went on a 20-6 burst and essentially took over the game from there.

Following a Wade technical, Barry converted on all three free throws before Parker finished the run with a jumper. San Antonio outscored Miami, 38-20 in the quarter and led 57-38 at the half.

The Heat couldn't get anything going in the second half and were never a serious threat. Duncan's bank shot opened up a 21-point advantage early in the third as the Spurs led by as many as 26 midway through the fourth quarter.

Game Notes

Miami finished 45 percent shooting...San Antonio was 9-for-20 from three-point range...Miami hosts Orlando on Friday while San Antonio hosts Dallas...Attendance was 18,797.

Was that Oliver Miller on the floor tonight? Jackie Butler still has some work to do. Finley needs to have him run some more lines.

Spurs Beat Up Defending Champs

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Tim Duncan scored 19 points, and Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili each added 17 in the San Antonio Spurs' 106-86 victory over the Miami Heat on Wednesday night.

Brent Barry had 15 points and Beno Udrih 13 for the Spurs, who had an easy time against a Heat team that remains without Shaquille O'Neal.

Dwyane Wade scored 18 points for the Heat. Earl Barron added 15 and Alonzo Mourning had 10.

The Spurs led for all but 20 seconds of the first quarter and were ahead 19-18 in the second before blowing open the game.

San Antonio extended the lead to 10 midway through the quarter with two 3-pointers from Barry and help from Duncan, who was left smiling after he missed an easy dunk but got the rebound and added two points with a layup. Barry added two more with free throws and rattled in another 3-pointer, putting the Spurs ahead 57-38 at the break.

Parker had 17 in the half, with seven of those coming in the last 1:41. He was followed by Duncan and Barry, each with 11. Wade led the Heat with 13 in the half.

The league's crackdown on complaining was in effect, with the Heat's Gary Payton getting a technical foul in the second for complaining about one given to Wade just moments earlier.

Two buckets from Wade in a 36-second span of the third cut the Heat's deficit to 14. But Duncan and Ginobili had eight points apiece in the period, helping San Antonio take a 23-point heading to the last period.

Miami got no closer than 19 in the final quarter, even after both coaches pulled their starters.

Spurs extend Heat's fall

When the NBA released this season's schedule in August, the decision makers at ESPN saw Wednesday's game between the Spurs and Miami Heat as a chance to showcase the league's past two champions. Two of the game's most dominant big men also would renew their rivalry.
So much for good intentions.

With Shaquille O'Neal resting his ailing knee in Miami and Tim Duncan relaxing on the bench, ESPN treated the country to 12 minutes of Jackie Butler vs. Earl Barron as the Spurs finished a 106-86 rout of the Heat.

It was that kind of night for the Spurs. Duncan scored 19 points, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker added 17 each, Bruce Bowen checked Dwyane Wade and Brent Barry hit four more 3-pointers. All but Barry sat out the fourth quarter.

"One thing we did good was keep our focus while Miami obviously has some tough circumstances with so many guys hurt," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "That's the main thing we're able to take from the game: We were able to keep our focus."

The Spurs will need at least the same kind of effort when Dallas visits on Friday. In the meantime, they tuned up for their division rival by dismantling the reigning champions.

Or at least what passes for them these days. O'Neal, James Posey and Jason Williams didn't play because of injuries. Antoine Walker started but contributed four fouls and no points in 10 minutes.

The loss was Miami's fifth in the past six games. More figure to be on the way with O'Neal expected to be out four to six weeks after having surgery Sunday to repair a cartilage tear in his left knee.

Still, even with the injuries, Heat coach Pat Riley was not pleased with his team's effort. To say the least.

"Eleven years I've been here and I've built this franchise with some people that really care," Riley said. "I've gone through a lot of rebuilding and a lot of pain to get to this point.

"I'll be damned if I'm going to allow people to crap on this franchise. They can crap on me but not the franchise."

Riley tweaked his lineup in the second half, starting Earl Barron and Dorell Wright in place of Alonzo Mourning and Walker. The Spurs, however, had already long since seized control.

Ginobili was both aggressive and efficient. He made 6 of 9 shots, one of which was an energetic dunk that brought the fans — and his teammates on the bench — to their feet.

"I think the last week and a half Manu has felt like he's in rhythm," Popovich said. "His body feels good. I think he's starting to get in playing shape and that's good for us."

Wade, meanwhile, has had to shoulder a larger load of the scoring without O'Neal around. So far, it hasn't been enough. Miami began Wednesday ranked last in the league in scoring (89 points per game) and shooting (41.4 percent).

Bowen did his best to corral Wade, who missed his first six shots before throwing down an emphatic dunk over the Spurs forward. Wade finished with 17 points and five turnovers.

"We knew Dwyane was going to get a lot of touches and take a lot of shots," Parker said. "Like always, Bruce did a good job to slow him."

Wade showed his frustration in the second quarter, picking up a technical for complaining about a foul. Barry barely had time to step to the foul line when Gary Payton was hit with his own technical.

By then, Parker had already begun to take over the quarter. He tossed in a runner, set up Fabricio Oberto for a layup with a lob pass, fed Duncan for another layup and buried a 17-footer.

Parker then decided to show off his speed. He spun in a reverse layup high off the backboard despite tripping over Payton's feet. Then he went around Payton and under Udonis Haslem for another basket, this time drawing a foul in the process.

Eleven of Parker's points came in the final 5 minutes, 20 seconds of the second quarter, producing a 57-38 halftime lead.

Bowen was the only Spurs starter to play more than 23 minutes. Barry and Beno Udrih combined for 28 points off the bench.

The Spurs' fourth consecutive victory sent the team into Thanksgiving on a high note. Even Ginobili, who is from Argentina, planned to take part in the holiday activities.

"We don't have (Thanksgiving)," he said, "but if there's something to celebrate I'm on it."
