I agree with Mongox who agreed with 1kangaroo. I just can't get terribly excited over our center situation. I think it's our least important position from the standpoint that I agree with the Spurs FO philosophy of not tying up big dollars and years for something we could get for much less. 
 
The NBA historically overpays (dramatically) for centers...see Detroit and our own situation with Nazr. I like Nazr, but he doesn't give us anything that we couldn't get for half the price and years. 
 
However, I also understand the anxiety from those that are wondering what the hell is going on. My instincts tell me that our FO was not interested in being agressive in this years' FA market. Next year will be much stronger and the following years probably as well. Remember, unlike the Knicks, the Spurs look at every imaginable angle and opportunity to improve the team within the framework of a longer-term plan. They are not going to mortgage the future out of desperation and this is one of the things that has seperated the Spurs from other organizations in the league. Patience. 
 
The conventional thinking is, since we lost to the Mavs, that we need to get another player. My thoughts are, you have a team that was a bounce or two away from beating Dallas in that series, and who knows what could have happened from there. Arguably another championship. You just can't suddenly get nervous and start having doubts in what you've put together. This team still has a nucleus of three all-stars (two of which would be considered young). It could stand to find some younger legs, but you don't do deals just for the sake of doing a deal. The Spurs continue to amaze me with their Front Office consistency under Pop and co.

Mongox, I don't know if you are mocking me and you just didn't know that Jimi Hendrix actually said that quote. You should really do a research on him because he's got some great quotes and has written some great songs. He's probably the BEST guitar player ever. But that's just my opinion. 
 
Pitter 5008, what makes you think that we are doomed for mediocracy? If you recall, for most of the season, Manu was hurt and so was Tim and Parker, also in the playoffs. And yet, we still managed to get the best record in the West. If the trio stays healthy, we will be fine even if we get a mediocre center. You are actingf as if, Pop and RC have not done anything. It was those that brought the trio together wasn't it? Just because we lost and didn't win the Championship, it does not mean that Pop and RC are no longer looking our for the ream's best interest. It's not like they went out and got Kwame Brown. That I would say, they have gone mad and we are doomed for mediocricy. They let Rasho and Nazr go because they cost too much. And Nazr surely wanted a big and long contract. And I think Pop got tired of his inconsitency and his whining. Pop don't like whiners. And Rasho, he's way too soft. I thought they would of gotten rid of him last year.

Well, we all know how much Denver hates the Spurs so I'm sure they are just doing that to spite us.
