SAN ANTONIO -- Mark Lustgraaf is a big Spurs fan and appreciates the new Spurs advertising campaign thanking fans for sticking with the team through tough times. He isn't upset about how the lockout has delayed the NBA season--just pumped up to know a schedule is in the works and games will start soon.
Some people consider the ads--on billboards, radio and television--damage control after the struggle to work out an agreement between players and owners has left fans disinterested in basketball.
Fatso's owner, Steve Wilkinson, isn't sure how people should feel about the ads but he believes fans deserve appreciation and he's ready for the season to start.
The sports bar owner says the lockout has adversely affected business, even though many fans are focused on football right now.
Wilkinson recently contacted the Spurs corporate office to find out when the schedule would be ready. The bar owner has lots of Spurs memorabilia scattered around his business making it obviously he likes the team.
Some fans having lunch at Fatso's say it's time to get the season started and they harbor no ill feelings because of the delay. By phone, one fan expressed her desire to continue buying season tickets and the retired teacher says shes enjoys supporting the team at the home games.
Not everyone is happy, some fans posted social media comments expressing sour feelings about the lockout and say they have lost interest in the NBA season. Time will tell if a fan appreciation from the Spurs will help them regain that loving feeling.
