Can someone please unfreeze my NZ Spurs user name? Cheers.

Yeah that wallpaper did generate a tad bit of controversey, and even though it was a lot of drama it was entertaining

Ok lets see. Although I was mostly a lurker, I started posting at Rivals and then SAHoops. That was like a gazillion years ago. I had another username back then.

Here is a memorable moment. During the summer of 2000, Tim Duncan, who was a free agent, almost bolted to Orlando. Rumors were that Tim had decided to sign with the Magic. Thank goodness that DRob came to the rescue and persuaded Tim to stay. Anyway, I remember that during that summer, Spurs fans got into a board war with Magic fans. At one point it got pretty nasty. Does anybody remember?

I sure do - those were good times.

I really liked the set up at rivals where you could hop from board to board and talk basketball. We had to deputize some additional moderators to handle all the trash talking back then. There were some great fans of other teams, like orangecounty the Laker Fan....

what was your screen name then Libri?

I think it was spursmaniac or something like that. Its not the one that appears in the archives. I didn't post a lot so I didn't leave an impression but like you said others did.

Well, I go back close to the beginning at least with occasional posting.

I became aware of this place because I was involved with a bunch of Spurs and SA fanatics going back to 1997 and the old KTSA chat boards. We would get together now and then and drew folks from all over the country, Canada and New Zealand/Oz. I visited the other boards mentioned by some of these folks - SC eventually being one of those.

We lost our home at KTSA and wandered a bit looking for a new home and some of us ended up at the old MySA/EN forum boards. That takes us thru the 9/11 times and then MySA folded up the forums in the summer of 2002.

So off again we went as a group, still posting a bit here at SC and elsewhere. I attended my first SC get-together in 2002 - at least that's the first time I took pictures!

I'll never be the biggest poster here - and certainly not the most informed! But I enjoy the way that Blondie and the rest of the contributors to both the board and the rest of the site run things. The thing that I love the most about ClubSpurs is the attitude to prevails - it's designed to be fun and informative rather than angry and confrontational.

And the dedication of Blondie! Certainly, so many have contributed over the years to make the site what it is, but I know it wouldn't still be here without a single driving force - and she is that. Those who think the site just keeps going without that force haven't ever tried to keep a group like this together.

I suppose I could add one of Blondie's favorite (ha) pictures, but I'll post this one instead - my records show this as being from around 9/2/2002 and held at The Alamo Cafe on 281 upstairs. I know this wasn't the first SC GTG I attended because I remember discussion about the location change!

BTW, the continued popularity of the SpursCentral site is being demonstrated by it being picked up as a "domain for sale" URL.

See www.spurscentral.com

Must be someone still going there eh?
