Ten Year Anniversary!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Postby Drew12 on Thu Sep 04, 2008 9:17 am

I don't think I could pick a best memory... the experience isn't just an internet experience for me... I've made lots of friends all over the world and have had a blast over the years. Lots of us have been around for all 4 rings and all the heartbreak mixed in.

I really miss Maorza. Blondie, rilyman, NZ, J, SFI, SASPOT, Mongo X, Speedy, Grande, Hoffy (of course), Twankies, Jules, there are so many others... It is amazing how this place exploded at one point. It all started with one guy arguing with himself, trying to generate conversation, and at the peak our forums were getting close to 10k hits in the WCFs.

10 years!!!

Postby rodrick01 on Mon Sep 08, 2008 8:17 am

I started hanging around the boards in 2003 because someone gave me a print out of the Quest for the Rings wallpaper that had the spurscentral website on it. I liked the board immediately and pretty much visited daily. Although I rarely ever post, its nice to see some NBA fans posting without going overboard with the smack. Great job everyone!

I didn't know this thing existed until this summer. I live in Dallas so it's hard to find anyone up here to engage in some good Spurs talk. I'm glad I found this place. I still don't know how this site works and who runs it, but congrats on making it 10 years.

our site concept is that it is run by the people who frequent here.

Ace is our news guy posting articles.

Chago, 14dave and Rita do the graphics.

jalberto makes videos.

Spursnation runs our fantasy leagues.

I am kinda like the GM......

we also have sveral people that posts blogs or articles on occasion, most notable are SAMikey P and Libri.

I guess since all of us long lost posters are making a return for this thread....

my favorite memory is hard to pin point...far too many...although I will say I gleaned some pride from creating the Manu/Hulk image that I saw used among many posters...from avatars to wallpapers...you name it...good times!

Happy 10th!!

I don't even know how I missed this topic! I didn't know about any message boards until about 5 1/2 years ago or so. I remember typing in "spurs history george gervin" or something like that in a search engine and it led me to the history part of the Spurs Central site.

Ten years already??

I remember the Hoffy days fondly. Been a regular ever since, but I just don't have time to post as often. This is my ONLY Spurs board though. The other ones just get too immature for me, since I am a certified Old Fart!

Congrats, Jackie! For the new guys, this site would have died several deaths, if not for Blondie's tenacity and dedication.

Blondie Rocks! :jam2:

Wow, it has been way too long since I have been here and even longer since I have been to San Antonio for a game. Hopefully, that will change in the next few months. We want to come down for the Cleveland game. And Jackie, maybe you will finally get to meet that mysterious husband of mine. We have been married thru two championships already and he has turned me into an avid college football fan - Ohio State, of all things. Fortunately, the colors go well with the Spurs and our sports room is scarlet, gray, and black. The DirecTV guy with his Mavs hat on did not like that room very much!

I think my favorite memory would have to be 2003 when Alamo50 came from the Netherlands for the playoffs - he never doubted that the Spurs would win!

I just noticed my title - The Prodigal Daughter - I guess that really does fit.

Great work on the site. Amazing work for an amazing team! :alleyoop:

And the Spurs finally got their G. Hill. IUPUI?
What we do very well is, we don't mess it up (except in even numbered years)

WOW, hello Jules!!!!
So good to read from you again and I am very happy that you are doing well with your husband.
Great to know you are getting back to good ol' San Antone soon.

Just know that I will never forget you allowing me to crash at your place (arriving without luggage) and us driving from Dallas to San Antonio and stopping at the Dr. Pepper museum in Wacko on the way!

2003 was magical....that feeling will never come again.
Thank you for helping it making easier living my dream.
This goes for Blondie, Drew, Mongo and Florence too!

Spurs fans are the best fans.

GO SPURS GO!
