I'll really miss Shaquille O'Neal. The big man had one of the best personalties ever. I hope he's sitting next to Chuck soon.

I liked Shaq. Not when the Spurs had to play against him of course. But he backed up his entertainment trash talk with four rings which included a 3-peat. That's pretty impressive.

He was definitely good at marketing himself. The league will miss him.

I read in an article that he studied marketing @ LSU so therefor he knows something about product placement & entertainment
For me it was in his rookie year, when he made that immediate impact.
That they described him as a superrookie, the comparison with supercenter David Robinson.
I will always remember the in your face dunks over fellow big men, who weren't to shabby defenders neither.
The dunk over the Chief, Zo, Ewing, poor Muresan, even poorer Bradley, ...
All the BShaw alleyoops too ofcourse.

WOn't miss having to watch him bull through helpless defenders, but that was only in his prime. Dude was funny and that will be missed. He'll still be heard from though, he'll be in a booth somewhere for sure

Nice write up by our old buddy Mike.

I too will miss Shaq. There were times in his career when I didn't like him, but he was so fun that I still enjoyed watching him if only to make fun of him. Then most of the time I was simply amazed by the way he could carry that enormous body of his up and down the court for 40 mins. No doubt he was a one of a kind ball player that will be missed in the NBA.

I will never forget him ripping down those two hoops in Orlando. One I believe he ripped the rim off the backboard the other I remember he broke the supports on the basketball standard that held the hoop up. I was watching that game live and was impressed that they had a backup hoop in the tunnel ready to go after an extended intermission.

As Mureşan mentioned, I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Shaq, although maybe he could spike up ABC/ESPN rather than joining the already entertaining TNT crew.
