Where was Manu's loyalty when the organization asked him not to play in the olympics and rest his ankle? And then reinjuries that same ankle? I say go for it. Besides, it's nothing personal, just busniess.

Manu has plenty of loyalty. I didn't see anything wrong with him playing in the Olympics and trying to defend the gold and I still see nothing wrong with it. I see nothing wrong with Tony wanting to play for France this offseason either. Getting to represent their countries is an honor.

Manu has done so much for this organization, questioning his loyalty makes no sense.

See I agree with that. If he has another injury plagued season, then they may have to cut their ties and move on. I'd rather wait and see, because we know what we'll get with a healthy Manu. If he's healthy and produces then I believe the Spurs should try to resign him.

Something smells fishy about that scenario.

1.) Why didn't we hear about it? If that is true, it would have been all over ESPN, and every other news media outlet. (Him being shopped around.) Nothing in the League will go anonymous these days. We hear about everything.

2.) How did they know the injury was going to be serious before the all-star break? For all we knew, he was being a stud again. He showed no signs of breaking down. He even came back and played decent after the trade deadline.

3.) If it is career ending, why is the organization taking so long to announce it? Are they trying to get the season ticket holders to buy tickets for next year before dropping a huge bomb on them? That just doesn't sound like the Spurs organization to me. If it truly was career ending, I believe the organization would notify us, as fans, that the injury is serious and could be career ending. No one has reported anything of the like.

4.) If they knew the injury was serious before the all-star break, why would they try to trade him? Are they going to ruin their reputation of being a good team by trading away damaged "goods?" Even if the trade initially went through, the team would give Manu a physical, he would fail and the trade would be rescinded. (i.e. Tyson Chandler) That would really make the team look bad.

For all the reasons above, I'm having a hard time believing this too.

How much would it cost to get Marvin Williams away from the Hawks.

Marvin Williams is cool, and he helped me win the fantasy tournament. However, he has had 2 injuries recently. His back kept him out the entire last month of the season. Then during the playoffs he hurt his wrist.

Lamar Odom will be an unrestricted free agent. And he has not been happy coming off the bench in LA. But, sigh, even if the Lakers let him go, his $14 million salary will be way out of reach for the Spurs.

I read recently that LO was willing to take a pay cut, but I don't know if that is accurate or not.

Marvin Williams is a restricted free agent and the Hawks can match any offer from another team. Marvin's qualifying offer for next season will be worth $7,355,165. In order to pry him away from the Hawks, the Spurs would have to offer him a contract that makes it unreasonable for the Hawks to keep him, which could be more than $7.36 million. I think that would be overpaying for him.

Even if Odom takes a pay cut, lets say 7 or 8 million, that would still be to much for the Spurs.

The Spurs have to fill 13 roster spots and in order to do so they have to make some decisions about Bowen's and Oberto's contracts and then wait to see what Finley decides. Bowen's and Oberto's contracts are 50% guaranteed if waived. Don't be surprised if the Spurs cut Bruce and Oberto to save money and get further under the salary cap and luxury tax and provide enough wiggle room to use the full MLE and fill the rest of the roster spots. They could resign Bruce for the minimum. This of course depends on Finley's decision and if the Spurs plan on using the full MLE.

Willing or not, Lamar Odom will be taking a pay cut next year. Nobody is going to pay him $11.4 Million.

I think it may be dificult to pry Marvin Williams from the Hawks. Another player of theirs I would like to have may not be as difficult; Zaza Pachulia.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Spurs tried to trade Manu but I don't think it's career ending. Manu's been on his facebook everyday and doesn't sound like it's the end all. He did say he's going to come back from vacation and have some additional test down to see how it's healing but he said so far everything looks good as far as healing is concerned. By the way they need to just lock him indoors. He's been so fearless he's been snorkeling and swimming with sharks :mhihi: . He posted this on his facebook.
