You folks may be gettin' a wave of negative feedback, since the Spurs owner is an official "hard-liner" during these negotiations. Blazers owner Paul Allen already got tagged in a hissy-fit article written by Woj on Yahoo Sports (
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=a ... out_102111 )
He's something that you'll see get brought up. Teams with 100 million dollar payrolls, and teams with 45 million dollar payrolls. Only one team in the NBA has a 100 million dollar payroll, and that team's point guard is coincidently in charge of Labor negotiations, and was last seen wearing a Laker gold tie and calling David Stern a liar.
Here's my take on what is not fair in this league.
The Lakers. I'll be right out front.
check it -
Boston, THEY STUNK, for years and years. They were terrible!! They hit rock bottom, then built a winner.
Spurs - Big Five-o got hurt, and ya'll won like 4 games that year. That's hitting rock bottom.
Mavs - Oh, yeah, Mark Cuban spent sooo much..... wait, hold up, Mavs just won the title with Deshawn Stevenson. Yes...THEY DID. They didn't just drop him and hire another team's All- Star mid-season to replace the injured Caron Butler. They told Deshawn to go win them the heavyweight belt, and he did.
Knicks - ???? They've been extra stinky, they are always near the bottom of the league. Oh ya, big money, Blazers just got their best guard, so I don't know if the Knicks have improved, until they get CP3 in a trade. But anyway, Knicks have hit rock bottom plenty.
Miami - Blahahahahaha!!
Lakers - They've never been bad through all of this. They never hit rock bottom. We're talking about a team that had Karl Malone, Gary Payton, and Glen Rice coming off the bench one season. They didn't ever have to get knocked down, then built back up. They're fans are blind to losing, and now they're players are dangerously cheap shotting opposing players and trying to start fights when they lose games. And their fan base unfortunately loves the Lakers unproffesional sportsmanship and thuggery.
If the Lakers thought that by playing thug ball, and outrageously spending to win championships, they would make a niche for themselves in the history of the NBA... they could be correct.
I think they broke it ):
