I am sorry Bufford should be fired over these type of signings this was like Bringing back Oberta when he was so limited abd need to be let go. :bang: :bang: :bang:

Mat freaking Bonner and you are giving him a pay raise

Way not go go freakin idiot Bufford just what we need another guy that shoots :bricks: in the playoffs gets abused and has to be benched in the playoffs and yet you give him a pay raise

Matt Bonner has also agreed to a 4-yr extension with San Antonio. He is also expected to sign his deal on Monday. Terms of Bonner's deal have not been disclose, but the Concord Union Leader reports that it should pay him annually more than the $3.2 million he earned least season.

Yes it does we can use a solid SF not named RJ and we could use another 3 point shooter not named Bonner

We lacked 3 point shooting and it hurt and now we wasted money on a guy who could not find the bottom of the ocean when it counted and we needed it desperately he disappeared and sucked on defense and yet we gave him a pay raise it hurts the overall team and he is un-trade able with that contract if we decided to dump him it should be two years of team options waste of a roster spot

I agree I don't like the Bonner signing either but it didn't take away from the money were were going to use for Splitter and another SF/shooter, we have Bonner's bird rights.

So now it just depends if Splitter got the entire MLE or not. We still have the LLE as well

I am looking at next year as well I know it did not effect Tiago and I glad they got it done but they should be offering Bonner like 1 Million we have luxury tax as well to deal with if someone else wanted to give him 3-4 million we should have let him walk

This exactly. You have to have an entire squad to play.

Yes but Bonner should not be getting a 4 year deal at 4 million a year Bonner should be getting a 2 year deal at like 2 million a year and the 2nd year a team option

Bufford just gave an over priced contract to a scrub he should be fired for Handy capping this team long term not just the short term with a ridiculous contract given to a guy that is lucky to find a job again in this league :bang: :bang:

Actually, before the Spurs resigned Matt, there was potential interest in him for the Heat. Matt is a big who can spread the floor, and would make a good choice to help round out their team.

Last season he shot .390 from the 3 point line and made a total of 90 3-point shots while playing in only 65 games (missed a bunch due to a broken hand). I agree with Pop and Buford that he is worth having around. Sure, I'd rather have Channing Frye as a big who shoots 3s, but Bonner is affordable.

And for all the fans who wanted Rasheed Wallace last year (I didn't), please be aware that Matt and Sheed's playoff stats are almost identical.

Most on this board did not want Sheed and preferred dice. Frye and Bonner contracts are close and both are overpaid Frye was the better player overall of the two but faded the last 3 LA games. I would say Frye was the better overall player off the two. It also shows the Phoenix trusted Frye more than the Spurs Bonner because Frye played a lot more minutes and was a regular contributor in the rotation. So Frye got what a 5 year 25 million deal and Bonner getting what 4 years 16 million the annual salary is close.

I still do not see Matt's 4 million a year value

Lets look at Bonner in the Playoffs

Dallas series 6 Games
5-16 From 3pt land

He averaged
16 minutes a game (one 8 minutes played game)
3.8 points (two of the games he put up goose eggs)
3.6 rebounds (1 game goose egg)
2 total assist and 1 block

Phx series 4 game sweep
He averaged
19.25 minutes a game
6.7 ppg (putting up a goose egg in a must win game 3 and 2 points in game 4)
3.6 rebounds (3 total rebounds in his 30 minutes in game one)
Total for series
2 assist, 2 Blocks and 1 steal

Frye had one great series against us

Portland 6 games
8-30 3point
6.16 rebounds a game
He also averaged more minutes 28.5
8.16 ppg
Total for series
6 assist, 6 steals 1 block

SA 4 games (this is brutal)
27.5 mpg
12-22 3pt (ouch)
4.75 rebounds
9.5ppg
Total for series
5 assist, 3 steals 5 block

LA (6 games)
10-34 3pt (he started 9-20 last 3 games he went 1-14)
25.5
7.3ppg (faded down the stretch even through up a goose egg and 1 point)
5.6 rebounds per game(again faded the last 3 games)
Total for series
4 assist, 3 steals 3 block

Have no idea what this is about. He can shoot and I know we need shooters, but he's too one-dimensional to deserve that kind of money. Can't defend worth crap and rebounding is pretty bad too.

This is a very good signing. Don't judge him on this past playoffs. Bonner is a big body, can stretch the floor with his shooting, has the corporate knowledge and has shown steady improvement the past couple of years. Everyone has letdown moments. I also think that bringing back Jefferson would be wise, especially with Splitter coming over. The Spurs need that roster filled out and Bonner and Jefferson are still "younger" guys. I think that Jefferson is 30 now, but he's got a few good years left. You gotta figure both of these guys will be a little better next season and, again, factor in hunger, the acquisition of Splitter, the drafting of Anderson, Blair's probably improvement, and Parker gunning for big time contract money, the Spurs should be a contender next season. Now the Spurs would have a few serviceable NBA big men around Duncan, each with a unique skill set.
