LAS VEGAS -- Gary Neal scored 23 of his 25 points in the first half as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Grizzlies, 78-64, on the final day of summer league play Sunday in Las Vegas.
With the victory, the Spurs completed their summer schedule with a 5-0 mark, while the Grizzlies finished 3-2.
Second-year player DeMarre Carroll led the Grizzlies with 14 points. No other player reached double figures for the the slow-starting Grizzlies, who shot just 43.7 percent from the floor and missed all 10 of their 3-point attempts.
Neal connected on back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Spurs a quick 13-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game. San Antonio scored 17 points before the Griz got on the board, when Chris McCray sank a layup with 6:06 to play in the first.
Neal finished with 16 points in the quarter, including 5-of-6 from behind the 3-point arc, as the Spurs soared to a 29-12 lead after one.
