2011 NBA Free Agents

2011 NBA Free Agents

Postby ace3g on Tue May 03, 2011 8:53 pm

A lot earlier than I ever wanted to make this thread but here are my top FA prospects (SF and PF/C, only positions the Spurs need help at).

Of course some form of trades involving Bonner/RJ during the draft would help as well.

SF:
Damien Wilkins
Rasual Butler

Wilson Chandler (RFA)
Tayshaun Prince
Shane Battier
Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (RFA)

Mickael Pietrus

PF/C:
Nenad Krstic (Pop has had interest in him before)
Nazr Mohammed

Trade Options:
Stephen Jackson (rumors of Bobcats trading him)
Travis Outlaw (didn't fit in with the style of the Nets + have read trade articles about him)
Josh Childress (played limited minutes for the Suns)
Corey Maggette (didn't work well with the Bucks)

Tayshaun Prince would be a GREAT fit. Now to convince the Pistons they need to do a sign and trade that includes Jefferson :bang:

As to your original picks

SF:
Damien Wilkins -- no opinion
Rasual Butler -- 3 point shooter and not much else as far as I know. If that is correct, we don't need him.
Wilson Chandler (RFA) -- nice pick, but will the Nuggets let him go?
Tayshaun Prince -- nice pick a couple of years ago, but too expensive now for what he offers.
Shane Battier -- nice pick, but will the Grizz let him go?
Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (RFA) -- unreliable in fantasy basketball -- what about on the court?
Mickael Pietrus -- Is he a FA?

PF/C:
Nenad Krstic (Pop has had interest in him before) -- maybe. If we can get him cheaply.
Nazr Mohammed -- no opinion

His downside is his offense and can't shoot the three but he's a good defender. I wouldn't mind seeing him with the Spurs but I think someone is going to overpay him.

The issue is we can not get any of the real good sf because Pop and Bufford over payed for Jefferson and Bonner last year :bang: :bang: :bang:

Remember i went blastic over both contracts all i got to say to Pop and Bufford I told you so.

In fact I have come to the conclusion Bufford is a moron and Sam was the real brains behind the operations

So far the Spurs have been in rumors to have interest in Caron Butler and

Chris_Broussard Chris Broussard
In addition to Chi & Wash, Bos, NJ, Den, NO, SA & ATL have had multiple conversations with reps for Josh Howard, sources say.

WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
Boki Nachbar is returning from Europe still w/ great rep for shooting well, working hard: Raptors, Nets, Knicks, Spurs, Sixers checking in.

And in Kennedy's updated NBA free agency diary, the Spurs were also one team calling about the services of Evans.

However, several contenders such as the San Antonio Spurs, Boston Celtics, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers have reached out to Evans’ camp as well. Don’t be surprised if teams look to sign Evans with the new mini mid-level exception.

First few rumors have the Spurs interested in SFs, good chance the Spurs might be making a trade involving one of their SFs for a big man

I think it is more likely that if they are able to land one of these guys they let RJ go with the amnesty clause. Butler if healthy might be a better fit and more productive than Jefferson. Howard is a lunatic and I want nothing to do with him.

What do you think of adding Troy Murphy as a free agent?

He's one year removed from 800+ rebounds and 100+ 3's.

While a defensive liability, he's still offers the following:
* ability to rebound
* ability to spread the floor with his 3's
* he's a big body
* he can take minutes away from Timmy on back to backs
* he can probably be signed for the equivalent of a Happy Meal
* he has a pulse

While the goal of this free agency off season was not to come away with Troy Murphy, he should be low cost and low risk. Plus, there's just not a lot of options out there. Thoughts?
