Another Maggette rumor? Going to the Nets for Carter?

Another Maggette rumor? Going to the Nets for Carter?

Postby SpursFanIsrael on Fri Jan 05, 2007 8:10 am

From the New York Daliy News:
According to one Western Conference executive, "The Nets are trying to do everything they can" to make a move that will jumpstart their season." The executive said that they would even deal Jason Kidd if the right trade came along, although his age and contract make him difficult to move. Vince Carter has the most appeal, although he can opt out of his contract after this season. Carter's name has been linked to the Clippers, who are trying to move Corey Maggette and Cuttino Mobley. But the Nets don't see them as a sufficient upgrade.

Carter for Maggette and Mobley?? Why would the Nets make that trade?
Carter has been playing great and he is much better than Maggette.

Looks like the Clippers are killing to trade Maggette.I think we should pack Beno,Barry and the rights to Scola for Maggette and even throw Eric Williams if needed.[/url]

I agree. You would have to be insane to trade Carter for Maggette and Mobley. Carter is an all-star capable of leading a team.

I see no reason why the Nets would do it. Come on Pop. Get Elgin Baylor on the phone and offer him Barry and Udrih for Maggette. Then sign a 3rd string point guard off the waiver wire (Dana Barros, Tony Delk, Troy Bell, Pooh Jeter [just for his name], Jay Williams [I think he's getting healthy]?). This team is not that far away from being championship caliber. The red rocket can replace Barry's shooting.

I think the Nets are concerned that Vince is going to bolt after the season. Maybe they think this is better than nothing.

I got this tidbit from HoopsHype looks to be an espn insider story

(The Spurs) have made inquiries about Maggette, and if and until he lands elsewhere, I'm told they're going to remain in that mix.

Actually the Clipps were into the Barry-Beno for Maggette deal but it was the Spurs who waited because of the lack of PGs it leaves them with.

I hope the Spurs pull the trigger on that one soon.

Hah, yeah that would be great, but we probably won't get Rebraca for Williams. The Spurs are the ones that need to be sweetening the Pot on this deal and Rebraca is bargain priced right now.

The trade of Bones and Udrih for Maggette is still a possibility though.

According to the New York Post, the Nets are not interested in trading Carter for Cory and Mobley.

Also, I noticed that Maggette got a DNP tonight even though they could have used him (the Clipps lost). I haven't heard about any injuries with him lately. If a trade was in the works, they very likely would not play him. Hopefully Pop made a phone call to Elgin this morning and things are in the works. If he ends up with the Heat I will be annoyed.

damnn this is so interesting to see where he will end up...plus he didnt play tonight......hopefully San Antonio is workin on the trade to get him down here to Texas....but I think that he doesnt wanna go to the Heat because Heat are just having one of those seasons where everything goes wrong, and im sure that he doesnt wanna be a part of that....cmon Maggette make the right choice
