ESPN.com Rumors section hints @ Starbury to Spurs deal

Since I'm not a member I could get the full story (dang Nazis), but they hint that the Spurs are the front runner of teams looking to sign the egotistical gaurd. Now I'm thinking the Spurs have Hill and Vaughn to back up Parker while he heals, but SM in San Antonio? Can he behave and play with one of the only "true teams" in the NBA? Does his style fit? Will he be willing to drop back to a secondary when TP9 returns? I personally am  about this rumor and hope there is some serious truth behind it....but will it be what the Spurs need now? I like that TP and Manu are out, cause now Pop has to bring in the new guys, but if SM comes down to San Antonio, he will again just rely on proven veterans instead of working to the future.

I think the Spurs would go after Salim Stoudamire before they even look at Marbury because Salim knows the Spurs offense and would be cheaper to bring in

I don't know if Salim is the answer and I am almost certain Marbury is not but I do think the Spurs need to get someone besides Farmer.

the way I see it, people react differently in different roles, Isah Thomas was brilliant on the court and a class act, then as a coach he was hard headed, short sighted and constantly in trouble in court; MJ a god on the court but completely lost as a manager; now you take Starbury who used to be a center piece which teams tried to build around and instead make him a cog in a hard working machine? Who knows we all might be suprised....plus he's been quoted saying thing like he respects Pop as a coach and thinks he can work for someone like him, and he also said that he would love to play with a player of Duncans calibur. Maybe now on the down slide of his career he's ready to come back down to earth and win a ring, because we all know it's our turn. :winner:

The guy got a tatto on the side of his head earlier this year. I don't think he is ready to come back down to earth.

I don't think Marbury would be a good fit with the Spurs. But then again, I didn't think Artest would work for the Rockets either. Look what Artest has done for them....

Can anybody tell me if Robert Horry is officially retired this year?
