There is nothing special about Dahntay Jones really.
Matt Barnes doesn't do so great coming off the bench, and, at least when he was with the Warriors, his play seemed very undisciplined. I think Rasheed Wallace would be too expensive, and his last season in Detroit was highly erratic.
Marvin Williams I like very much, but he has missed quite a bit from injury.

I'd add the following unrestricted free agents:
Chris Anderson
Lamar Odom -- probably too expensive

restricted free agents:
Hakim Warrick

I think Moon would be nice. The Heat are probably not going to re-sign him:

Restricted free agent Jamario Moon said Tuesday that Heat officials told him ''they are really impressed with me,'' but haven't said if they will re-sign him -- that's in question because of the luxury tax. Recovering from sports hernia surgery, Moon said he can resume playing in July.

Kleiza has been really good playing against the Lakers. Is he a true PF or a tweener? The Nuggets will have (I believe) three guys they need to try and re-sign, and I don't think they can afford all three. They have Kleiza, Birdman, and J.R. Smith. Again, I'm not 100% positive, but I think those guys are FA or RFA. As long as they're getting younger, I don't care who exactly they bring in. As long as it is someone who will contribute and make this team better and younger. I would also hope they look at guys who can defend. The Spurs sacrificed defense this year, and I don't think the plan worked. I hope they can go back to being more defensive minded.

From your list, the players I really like are Marvin Williams and Jamario Moon. The problem is those two along with most of the guys on your list are Restricted FA's and we can only offer a little more than the MLE so it wouldn't be hard for teams to match our offer. The only guys on your list that aren't restricted are Carney, Barnes, Pachulia, and Sheed. I heard Sheed wanted to make at least 8 mil next season, so rules him out since that is more than he's worth at this stage of his career and I doubt the Spurs will offer him that much. Barnes is an uptempo player, so I don't think he will fit in with us. I wouldn't mind Pachulia since we do need help at the C/PF. Carney a player that I really like as well because his game is similar to Moon's. He would bring the athleticism this team so desperately needs at the SF spot and he has improved his outside shooting. His defense still needs work, but the Spurs coaches preach defense so that souldn't be a problem.

Here are the guys I like and would hope the Spurs would take a look at:

Zaza Pachulia (This may be the guy I want most)
Ronald Murray
Glen Davis (He is restricted so I would imagine Boston would match any reasonable offer)
Anderson Varejao (said today that he is opting out of his player option)
Brandon Bass
Linas Kleiza (I would consider him a SF and not a PF)
Jamal Crawford
Von Wafer (he plays with so much heart and energy)
Stephen Graham (I really don't know much about this kid)
Rasho Nesterovic (Bring back the Sho)
Trevor Ariza (I think he will get some bloated offers since Kobe made him look better than he is)
Chris Mihm (if he is healthy)
Hakim Warrick (Been a long time since we had a player like this, he may be too streaky to hold a spot in the rotation though)
Ramon Sessions (will get way too much money this summer and is restricted)
Charlie Villanueva (always thought he would be a great Spur)
Rodney Carney (I think he has the potential to become a star)
Jarvis Hayes
David Lee
Marcin Gortat (he may get some bloated offers and is restricted)
Brian Cook (just to get Misti back)
Matt Barnes (I wanted him last year)
Channing Frye (only on the cheap, he doesn't have a lot of skills but would fit in locker room wise nicely, of course he is restricted so a cheap offer probably would be matched by the Blazers)
Michael Finley (I am one of the few who hopes he picks up his option)
Drew Gooden
Jamario Moon

another reason my list is small because I'm hoping that Mahinmi, Gist, and Hairston are part of the main rotation next season.

I'm hoping that too. I really want the Spurs to get younger, but still be good. At some point they have to look to the future. A future without Manu and Tim. It's going to happen, and I know it pains us all to think about it. They have to start bringing in guys to try and win a championship now, but still be able to build towards a championship in the future. I don't know if that makes sense. I guess what I'm saying is, I don't want the FO to kill the teams future by trying to win now exclusively. A mixture of young guys that can produce and proven veterans is what this team needs. Bringing in Mahinmi, Gist, and Hairston might give this team a much needed youth infusion, but keeping some veterans will give them the experience they need.

I would like to see the Spurs bring in Pops Mensah Bonsu into training camp/summer league. He's not signed to a current team, and I don't know if the Raptors are going to re-sign him. I liked what I saw from him. His energy is unquestionable. I would like to see him paired with Duncan. FO make this work!

now that the finals are over, this is my 2nd favorite part of the year: FA rumors. Now the media and NBA FO will start to focus on next season, shouldn't be long before the major rumor articles hit the net!!!!

I've made some additions to my FA pool, since the Spurs are lacking at the SF/PF/C position, hopefully the Spurs will only pickup players 6'8 and taller. You can't teach length, the Spurs could do wonders with a few athletic smart 6'8 or taller players on their team, especially when you need to get that critical rebound

Marvin Williams - SF 6'9 - A possible Bowen replacement and a "long 3"
James Singleton - SF/PF 6'8 - high energy bench player I think the Spurs could use, good rebounder
Linas Kleiza - SF/PF 6'8 - high energy player that could be a starter, good 3 point shooter and rebounder

Rasheed Wallace - PF/C 6'11 - enough said, he can help spread the floor with TD, Spurs wouldn't have to worry if Duncan was on the bench, could be the new twin towers for the Spurs. Can be a good 3 point shooter and defender if he is motivated. He said he would like to play alongside Duncan, hopefully he chooses to come here.

Hakim Warrick - SF/PF 6'9 - would add a lot athleticism to the team, could be a running mate with Parker for alley oops.

Jamario Moon - SF 6'8 - It would be awesome to have a former Harlem Globetrotter on the team, would be a great bench player

Charlie Villanueva - SF/PF 6'11 - He has good offensive talent, something the Spurs could always use

Rodney Carney - SF 6'7 - Like others have said, same with me , this kid is ready to explode talent wise

Jarvis Hayes
- SF 6'8

Matt Barnes - SF 6'7 - Proven that he can handle being both a starter or bench player without much differential in production. He is also one of the players on the Warriors that guarded Dirk very well in '06. He does pretty much everything well, shoots the 3, steals, rebounds, hustles, etc.

Pops Mensah-Bonsu - PF 6'10 - I just liked the hustle and potential he had in the limited minutes he played with the Spurs

Anthony Parker - SG/SF 6'6

Etan Thomas - PF/C 6'10

Ike Diogu - PF/C 6'10

Channing Frye - PF 6'11

Marcin Gortat - C 6'11 - He played well for the Magic this season, even had a great game in the playoffs when Howard was out for too many Technicals

Chris Wilcox - PF 6'10

Trevor Ariza - SF 6'8 - He is someone I wanted the spurs to pick up since his days with Orlando, but now his price is probably too high thanks to his great play with the Lakers. But someone has to go either Odom or Ariza

Lamar Odom - SF/PF 6'10

Antonio McDyess - PF 6'9 - He can still put up good offensive numbers and still plays great defense, and rebounds well

Walter Herrmann - SF 6'9 - Would have chemistry with Manu, always wanted him to be a Spur

Zaza Pachulia - PF/C 6'11

Josh Childress - SF 6'8 - Another player that would make a great Spur, all depends on if he stays in Europe or not

Gortat
One of the key offseason questions facing the Orlando Magic concerns backup center Marcin Gortat. The 6-foot-11 reserve is now a restricted free agent, meaning that the Magic can match any offer to him.

He should draw some interest, because he's only 25 years old and he distinguished himself as a rebounder and defensive replacement while spelling Dwight Howard this past season.

Gortat had a salary of $770,000 in 2008-09, and he stands to have a big payday. He said that the Magic's decision about whether to match any offer will depend on whether the Magic re-sign Hedo Turkoglu, who has opted out of his contract. In other words, if the Magic break the back to re-sign Turk, the team won't have the money to match an offer to Gortat.

Gortat planned to meet with Magic Coach Stan Van Gundy today and with General Manager Otis Smith on Wednesday.

Here is what Gortat had to say Tuesday at RDV Sportsplex.

What do you think will happen this offseason?

“Everything depends from Turk, what’s going to happen with Turk. That’s what I think. I would like to stay in Orlando. I love Orlando. I love the coaching staff. I learned a lot with Coach Van Gundy, and he made me a player. Basically, he taught me a lot of discipline. He gave me a lot of experience. I’m just happy that I had this opportunity to play for this town, for the team, for this organization, for the fans. I can tell you one thing: I feel great here; I feel really awesome. I think fans liked me, and I like the fans. I like everything about the Magic.”

Did you show everyone around the league that you can be a good player?

“I think so. I mean, I had a couple of pretty good games, and I definitely used my chances in a game, when I was in the game. I hope I’ve shown I can do that, and hopefully I’m going to stay for the next couple of years.”

Can you grow here as a player behind Dwight?

“Oh, definitely, I can grow. I believe that Coach Van Gundy can find a solution for that. He can find a couple new options for both of us. We showed that we can play together, me as a power forward and then he as a 5 guy. I believe we can do that. Obviously, playing behind him kind of slows me down. But on the other side, I’m playing against the best center in the world [in practice], so imagine how good I’m going to be after another year playing against him in offense, playing against him in defense. It’s just going to make me better three or four times. I’m not going to have that situation with another team, so that situation works both ways. It’s kind of limiting me, but on the other side, it’s making me better, too.”

Good to see the Magic are strapped for cash. Hopefully Hedo gets a fat new contact and they have to part ways with Gortat.
