NBA Trade Rumor: Nocioni

NBA Trade Rumor: Nocioni

Postby ace3g on Sun Dec 27, 2009 12:14 am

I don't usually post things like this but since he is on my fantasy team, and have started to notice his drastic decline in minutes played over the last 3 games (none of which were because of foul trouble), especially tonight against the lakers where he only played 6 minutes, and is someone who would match up well against their size;

I have a feeling that Nocioni might be on the trade block, especially since it looks like the Kings like what they have in Casspi who they might think is a younger cheaper version of Nocioni.

So I wouldn't be surprised if we start to hear his name in some trade rumors soon and or near the trade deadline

Spurs don't have any contracts that would match straight up. The two teams would have to package multiple players to get Nocioni here.

Nocioni has three years remaining on his contract and a team option for a fourth. He is getting paid about $7.5 million this year and his contract is front end heavy meaning it will fall the next two years. I always liked Nocioni but I don't think he is worth that much. Any team that does trade for him would be taking a major risk.

Nocioni Continues To Be On Block

With a glut of small forwards, Sacramento's Geoff Petrie will be looking to even out his roster by the trade deadline.

"Geoff knows the roster," Paul Westphal said with a laugh. "We're always available to try to improve the team (via trade), but it is what it is, too."

League sources continue to indicate Nocioni is the likely piece to be moved.

Nocioni is owed a combined $21 million during the next three seasons, and the Kings could either trade him for expiring money and gain $6.85 million in salary-cap room this summer, or include him in a deal for a big man they need.

"Noc is a real pro," Westphal said. "He said to me the first meeting we had (in the summer), and he has been true to his word, that whatever we want and whatever role he has, he's fine with it and he'll come as a pro and handle it.

"I don't know that I'd say 'It's not fair to him,' but it's the not the way that it should be at this stage of his career for him. But it's an unsolvable problem. Whatever we decide, a good player is going to get left out."

Nocioni indicated that he doesn't follow the rumor mills online in an effort to keep his sanity.

I'll think he'll stay put in Sacramento. Well, at least he can shoot the ball and finish inside too. A good rebounder, overall decent defender.
