Potential Manu trades

Potential Manu trades

Postby VWolf on Thu Jan 25, 2007 12:53 pm

Would any of you want to pull the trigger on any of these trades? On some of them, I definitely can say I would. All of these guys have been rumored to be interested in a trade.

Manu and Eric Williams for Carter:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=272~929~136&teams=17~17~24

I would pull the trigger on this one. It would make the Spurs instant contenders this year and the next. The only problem is that Carter would be gone after 2008, but that might not be a problem...it would free up a lot of cap space.

Manu and Eric Williams for Pau Gasol:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=272~929~996&teams=29~29~24

I'd do this trade too. Gasol has 5 years left on his contract and would look pretty good playing alongside Duncan. Sure we'd need another guard on the team, but that could be ironed out.

Manu and Eric Williams for AK-47

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=434~272~929&teams=24~26~26

This one might be a good trade. It would give us another shot-blocker, but it would leave us a hole at the two. We'd probably need to make another trade to shore that area up.

Manu for Maggette:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=272~497&teams=12~24

I wouldn't do this one. I don't think the Spurs would get better with this, at least in the short term.

Any other potential and realistic trades you an think of?

P.S. sorry to all the Manu worshippers out there.

I would do the one for a Pau Gasol type of player.

I'd do the trade for Vince Carter but not any of the others. I like Gasol but I just think that would leave us a little too thin at the swing positions.

I don't care anymore. Trade him for anyone. Maybe it would be good for both the Spurs and Manu if he left.

I think you guys are looking for a quick team fix when there isn't one.

It is easy to look at this guy or that guy and see only the positives they would bring to the team.
None of the above mentioned have a flawless game. If they did, their current teams would not be willing to let them go.

Gino may have his slumps but he understands our system, defends, makes great passes and steals, can handle the ball and can score.
Also he is a great team player and is willing to come off the bench to help the team, something most super stars would not be willing to do.

I honestly don't believe you guys would like this team without Gino.

Manu is getting old and the Spurs are getting old. It is going to be a lot harder to trade Manu next season or the season after it. It might be time to think about the future.

Of course we all know Pop won't trade Manu. He wouldn't trade geratric Barry and horrible Udrih for Cory Maggette, so he'd probably never be satisfied with what he could get in return for Manu.

its hard to even being to comprehend the fact that some Spurs fans want to trade Manu. i dont care what people say about him, the guy plays with more heart than anyone else. he only knows how to play one way, and thats hard. although i question Pop's frequent rotation changes, the guy knows what he's doing. he didn't trade Brent and Beno for a reason, maybe because he realizes that Maggette is not going to be the savior of this team. and i agree with him. loyalty is a factor too. who is more likely to be loyal to this team, Maggette or Manu/Brent/Beno?

I love what Manu does for our team. I don't see him going anywhere except to the HOF after he retires as a Spur.

So, all this is just what if's....

How about dangling Tony as the bait? He's got stars and Hollywood in his eyes now, since becoming Mr. Eva Longoria...

Thats a trade the Jazz may bite on. Manu would fit with Sloans system nicely, plus he would give the Jazz a good shooting guard. AK would probably improve A LOT under the Spurs system, I think part of AK's problem is mentally.

still wanna trade Manu???

Postby Katrille on Mon Jun 18, 2007 5:51 am

the Spurs won the championship this year with great, great plays by Manu Ginobili...

1.)24 staight points in Atlanta-CLASSIC!!
2.) Game 5 in phx- his dominance in the 4th quarter
3.)Game 6 against phx-he was superb and sealed the series
4.)Game 4 in Utah-he flooped a lot, yeah, but they won..he'd do anything in his will for his team to win!
5.)Game 5 vs Utah-again, he sealed the series with a promising game..
6.)Game 1 and 2 vs Cle-he hit a lot of threes..also that 4 point play!!! whew~
7.)Game 4 in CLe-13 pts in the 4th..that's vintage Manu! if he hadnt stepped up his play, the series could have gone back to San antonio..

*not to mention his assists, rebound, steals and free throws..guys, Manu is just perfect as a Spur...really..

See?? y'all wanted to trade him earlier this year and that's just bull---t! HE is way important to this organization as it may seem...It wouldnt be the spurs we love if he'd left,honestly...
