Rasheed Wallace

According to the NY times:

San Antonio will not have cap space until 2010 (when Ginobili’s contract expires), but there will be plenty of talented free agents who may accept the mid-level exception this summer. Expect the Spurs to make a run at Rasheed Wallace, the longtime starting power forward for the Pistons.

I would love to see that a few years ago, but most fans want to get younger not older. He gave up on the Pistons this year, what makes me sure that he won't do that to the Spurs team? I'd rather bring Gooden back, and add Ian and see what they can do. In that case, we get younger, and also give time to develop these younger guys. A healthy Tim Duncan along side a healthy Drew Gooden.. LOOK OUT! It will also be a Drew Gooden with more experience in Pop's system.

I can't believe I am saying this but if we can get him at a reasonable rate I say we pull the trigger. He seems to have matured a bit finally and his game would fit in very nicely with the Spurs. He has the range on his shot to open things up for Timmy D and can play much better D than Bonner. Also when he is willing he has a post up game as well.

I would love to add Wallace because we need a reliable Center next to Duncan, look at this years playoffs, Bonner just feel apart with his 3 point shooting, and he was never a good rebounder. Although Rasheed isn't a great 3 point shooter he has proven he can hit the shot in the playoffs, plus he can spread the floor like Bonner but can grab rebounds at a higher rate. It could be another version of the Twin Towers.

The Spurs need a starting center, starting SF, and a tall SG/SF slasher off the bench.

Added RJ to the list until both start hitting 3s consistently and/or traded...

The problem is that Wallace has not been a reliable center this year. Plus he is too expensive.
