Spurs Potential Off-Season Trades

Spurs Potential Off-Season Trades

Postby Milad on Tue Jun 19, 2007 10:49 am

I know R.C Buford will not going to make big changes this summer. But I think Spurs are really geting older and older I suggest some trades and I want your opinions:
1.Robert Horry&Fabritsio Oberto for Tyson Chandler
Actualy Tyson put his game to the next level and he is reboundung very well and will protect boards in both ends.(He is the Offensive Rebound per game leader)
2.Bruce Bowen&Brent Barry&Emanuel Ginobili for Joe Johnson and Josh Smith
Again three olds and two youngs with longer contracts and both are decent youngs.
Starting Lineup: Backups:
PG/Tony Parker Beno Udrih/Jaque Vaughn
SG/Joe Johnson Morris Almond/Michael Finley
SF/Josh Smith James White/Num 58 Draft pick
PF/Tim Duncan(C) Matt Bonner/Francisco Elson/Melvin Ely
C.Tyson Chandler Kyle Vysser/Jackie Butler
Team Weaknesses:Free Throw and Three Pointers
Team Ups:except those three thing all the others.
Looks very good.Is it?

That would be an NBA Championahip for the next 5 years...lol....I dont think the Hornets would accept that, and the Hawks arent that dumb to accept that trade either...lol....although we do need a center...someone like Eddie Griffin, Tyson Chandler...a good rebounder and shot blocker...

1A. Welcome to Club Spurs, the best Spurs site on the WWW.

1. As SVBaller Stated the Hornets would be insane to give up Tyson Chandler, a complete beast last year for grandpa Horry and Oberto. There is also other problems. The collective bargaining agreement (CBA) wouldn't allow such a trade because Chandler makes significantly more money than those two players combined. Plus Oberto has a player option this year, so until he exercises that option or signs a new contract with the Spurs they do not own his rights and hence, cannot trade him.

2. This trade does work under the current CBA but I don't think it would be a good trade for either team. Well it might work for the Spurs. Atlanta would never do such a trade. They gave up a lot to get Joe Johnson and intend to build their franchise around him. One of the few components that they have to help build around Johnson is Josh Smith. I'm not a big fan of the idea of trading Manu or Bruce. They are half of our core that just won us an NBA Championship.

Note: to test if a trade works out with the CBA go to realgm.com and use their trade checker feature.

Whatever you used assumed Oberto gets a hefty raise from the Spurs before being traded. Horry makes $3.6 million and if Oberto picked up his option he would make $2.5 million next season, these two guys are bargains in this league. Then you are trading him for a player in Chandler that makes $10 million next year. $10 million is not within 125% of $6.1 million. For this deal to work out Oberto would have to be signed to a new multi-year contract of with a first year salary of about $4.4 million. At this point Oberto would have to agree to the sign and trade and totally screw over Horry in the process.

I'd really like to see us trade either Vaugh, Udrih, or both for a veteran back up point guard.

The three people we can stasnd to lose most in my opinion are: Udrih, Butler, and Vaugh.

They'd be absolutely insane to break up the core of this team by getting rid of Manu. It certainly isn't broke, don't fix it.
