Spurs Trying To Acquire A First Round Pick

Spurs Trying To Acquire A First Round Pick

Postby libri on Thu Jun 04, 2009 5:23 pm

A number of teams are already reportedly sending out feelers indicating that they would like to acquire a pick in the late first round—including the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets and Toronto Raptors. A few teams that are rumored to be looking to trade or sell their picks are the Oklahoma City Thunder (#25), Minnesota Timberwolves (#28) and New Orleans Hornets (#21).

Hopefully they'll trade some draft picks for draft picks. I don't want to see them trade some valuable trade bait just for draft picks.

These teams are looking to cut the payroll a bit. Bowen and/or Oberto's contracts may be attractive to them of course the Spurs would have to take some more baggage than just the pick though.

Every year before the draft there are rumors which say that the Spurs are trying to aquire a higher pick. Unless a mid 1st rounder is offered for the right price - I'd say don't do it. Pop doesn't like rookies and we all know that.
