Travis Outlaw of the Blazers is a target

Rumor has it the Spurs really want to get this guy.

I don't know how they'd be able to pull it off before the deadline. He's on the final year of a paltry contract, so unless the Blazers are charitable, something else would have to be included...such as taking on Raef LaFrentz.

I really hope they could figure out a way to do it with out adding Raef. He has 2.5 more years at 10+ million per year.

How about Barry and Williams for Miles and Outlaw?

Have the Blazers soured on Miles? Is he ever even going to recover from his knee surgery?

I would be absolutly sick if Darius Miles ever ended up on the Spurs. He doesn't care about basketball or his team, only the benjamins. I can't believe you would even suggest this Wolf.

Outlaw would be a nice fit on this team but, not at that cost.

We would likely have to take a contract off their hands to get Outlaw. LaFrentz is much more expensive than Miles. Both are probably worthless at this point.

It looks like Pop is going to take the wait and pray approach though. He's going to try and lure Outlaw out of free agency at the end of the season and hope the Blazers don't match his offer.

Yeah Lafentz's contract is ugly, but it is at least one year shorter than Miles, and he is not a complete lunatic. Although I don't want either of them. I don't know if Portland would do it but we could trade Barry and Eric Williams for Magloire and Outlaw. I think if this deal did go down the Spurs might miss Barry's shooting more than they would gain from Outlaw's length and athleticism. But it might open up some cap room for us next year.

Blondie, you gotta give something to take something.

Ryno, I would love it if we could unload Bones and Williams for Outlaw and Magloire, but that trade makes little sense of the Blazers. It quite clearly makes them worse and the Spurs better, and makes them take on Barry's 2 year contract (both Magloire and Outlaw expire this year). The only way they might do something like that would be if we included 1st round draft picks and Scola; even then it seems like a longshot.

Wasn't Magliore the subject of a few trade rumors? I kind of remember something about him not being happy in Portland. Of course, who would be......................?

I'd take Outlaw.I would never take Miles or Reaf.Miles has the potential but he sucks as a person and doesn't want to pratice or play.

If Outlaw is in his final year of his contract then I think Pop will wait till the summer to try and sign him as a FA rather than give up players for him.

The problem is, that the Blazers can match any offer the Spurs make. I would be very surprised if the tight-pocketed Spurs won a bidding war with the Blazers.

Yes, we did, but do you remember what a tense situation that was? The Nuggets and/or Knicks could have easily screwed the Spurs out of Elson and Butler. We only had Oberto as a center at that point.

If we wait until the end of the season then we are at the Blazers mercy on Outlaw. Remember that they like the guy quite a bit. He logs over 24 minutes for them. Butler and Elson were third stringers.

Note that on the Blazers, only Magloire, Udoka, and Outlaw come off the books next season. It is doubtful that they would re-sign Magloire and if they do it will be for less than what he currently makes. They will probably keep local kid Udoka in Portland, but not for much money. They should have enough money to keep Outlaw if they want him. The Spurs definitely won't be able to low-ball him like they did with Elson. And remember that the other team has 2 weeks to decide if they want to match or not. That can be an eternity in the free agent market.

I really hope they can get him as a free agent, but those hope ride on Portland letting him go.
