Wizards-Spurs deal in works?

The Wizards are said to have an offer for Manu Ginobili on the table, but the details are not known. A deal that makes a lot of sense for both sides is a swap that consists of Mike James, Etan Thomas, the fifth pick in this year's draft, and Nick Young for Ginobili and Fabricio Oberto. Nick Young would provide the Spurs with the promising young shooting guard they tried to acquire in J.R. Smith and with the fifth pick they could go a number of different ways. Jordan Hill or DeMar DeRozan would look awfully nice in a Spurs' uniform.

I think it's worth it. Manu is always hurt, especially at playoff time. Maybe the Spurs can make a package and trade up. I say go for it.

I think not. I would rather take a chance with a recovering Gino that already knows the system and functions great with the rest of the team than start from scratch and wade thru the developement of the new-bees.
The Spurs do need some youth but trading off their star players is not the way to go about it.

A healthy Manu is worth more than Thomas, James and the 5th. While Manu has been fighting injuries this year, don't forget he got his first free summer in a few years so this is a positive thing. Even though Manu is getting old - he is still one of the best when healthy.

33 year old Mike James missed part of the year with injury and is inconsistent in his performance as a point guard. Etan Thomas averaged only 2.5 rebounds per game last season. Nick Young is still in development. We don't need or want any of those guys.

If we are taking on contract like Mike James and Etan Thomas the Spurs better make sure we are getting the next Kobe Bryant along with Nick Young with that five pick. Of course those contacts expire after next year when everyone including Manu is a free agent. Maybe we could trade him for the pick and Young then get him back after a year in Washington, that would be sweet, but also a big gamble.
