So what do you think about the lineup for next season?
>
>Starters:
>
>Duncan (need to resign)
>X (Free Agent - Jermaine, Kidd, Kandi, Brand, Brad Miller)
>Bruce Bowen
>Manu
>Parker
>
>Bench:
>
>Rose
>Stephen Jackson (need to resign)
>Speedy Claxton (need to resign)
>Kevin Willis (need to resign)
>Danny Ferry (still under contract unfortunately)
>
>That leaves two roster spots open. If they elect to not sign a top-tier
>FA......than they can try to 2 second-tier players. If they sign Luis
>Scola (Argentine Draft pick from 2 years ago. He's 6-9, 265lbs).....there
>will
>be one spot open for a rookie/draft-pick (they have a late first rounder
>and an early second rounder(from a trade)).
>
>What happens if the Spurs lose this series and the Nets go on to win it
>all......and Jason says he wants to come here? He'd be hard to pass up.
>If we offer Brand the max.......the Clips can match (restricted FA).
>Jermaine is unrestricted....so he's probably the best bet right now. Kandi
>is coming off a bad year....and a surgery. His stock is low. Brad Miller
>seems pretty soft to me.
>
>I might go with PJ Brown at the PF spot. He plays good D, can hit an open
>shot....and his ego is not over-inflated. He'll fit right in....for
>cheap. But I wouldn't mind having a front court of TD (26yrs old) and
>Jermaine O'neal (24yrs old). They could dominate for the next 5-7 years.
>Those corn-rows gots to go though!
I agree with the chemistry/playing-time-together theory. Bring this team back next year by resiging Tim Duncan, Stephen Jackson, Kevin Willis, and Speedy Claxton. I can live without Jackson....and Willis would only be a one-year deal. But Speedy should be a major priority. He and Parker make up the quickest PG combo in the NBA.

I really, really like Scola. Especially if A) he'll play for cheap and B) if he's friends with Manu - this will increase the chances of Manu staying after next year.

I still don't understand why they never gave Bateer and playing time? He looked pretty good against the US in the worlds last summer too.

I think Brand would be a solid role player......but is he worth it? O'Neil isn't my favorite either.....but he's got a lot of potential. With either one of these 2....the Spurs have the best front-line in the League (no matter who the Lakers get). Duncan would have to play C though....and he does not want that. It would be cool to see Duncan start in the All-Star game....and make Shaq come off the bench. That would be priceless..........but it might be a few years before TD could surplant Shaq. And Tim likes making the All-NBA first team.

Kandi is more of a risk.....but he would allow Duncan to play at the PF spot. The same for Brad Miller.

Kidd is the best player.....but is the least of our needs.

SIDE NOTE:

How sweet would it be to see Robinson end his career with a ring. How many former MVPs could say that? I can't think of any.
I thought both Ferry and Kerr were retiring this year, along with Dave?

Maybe I have on blinders, but I can't get into this talk now. Let's bring it up again after the River Parade!

Well, Michael Jordan...sort of...and sort of should've been twice, but I guess they couldn't give it to him three years in a row.
