I ordered the two sets with Tim and Tony along with one of the relatively inexpensive playsets:
Ultimate Defense $14.99

They arrived in the mail from LEGO in only a couple of days.

The faces on the authentic NBA players look a little less goofy in "person." Still goofy, though. The legs are spring-loaded, and the arms and hands are specially designed, both for enhanced ball-shooting capabilities. The two generic figures who came with the playset are godawful stupid looking.

The Ultimate Defense set has a wind-up motor so that a shotblocker moves up and down in front of the basket. The idea is that you're trying to shoot over him. However, shooting into the basket is way too difficult as is! I set it up so that mini-Tim was the shotblocker and mini-Tony was the shooter. When you pull back on mini-Tony, he launches the ball with such force that it can go WAY above and beyond the backboard. If you try a bank shot, the ball just bounces off the backboard. I finally got him to make a few shots, but there's a real knack to it. It was definitely one of Tony's "off" nights from the field.

Oddly enough, he passed the ball directly to mini-Tim a few times, and mini-Tim actually caught the rock in his wee LEGO hands! It's too bad that mini-Tim couldn't do an airborne 180 for the alley oop or dunk.

I guess you could also use this set to make a player move up and down in a dunking motion. However, the other LEGO NBA playsets might be better suited for that.

The minifigures that came with Tim and Tony were Shaq, Pau Gasol, Ray Allen, and Antoine Walker. I have devilish plans for mini-Shaq, but the other ones are useless.
