Im not making excuses for anything, Im just saying, with injuries, a team will always get the downside to um, even the "refs" could make that call

Of course injuries are a major factor in any team's run for the championship.

Look at the injury to Chris Webber. If it turns out to be as serious as it looked, it will probably kill the Kings' chances to win their series.

Sometimes luck plays a big part in who wins. Who stays healthy - who avoids the ref's whistles - who gets 'hot' - and who you're playing aginst and their luck.

An injury is not an excuse - it is a fact. The Spurs lost in 2000 because Tim went down with an injury. The Lakers may lose this year because of injuries.

The healthiest (luckiest) of the most talented teams will usually win. Life is a crap shoot.

Fox's and George's line against the Spurs this season:

Game 3 Result Spurs 103 Fakers 95
George..31..2-7...0-3...0-0...1...2...3...1...0..1..2..0..4

This regular and post season, the Fakers record against the Spurs are:
0-1 when neither play
0-1 when only Fox plays
0-2 when only Geroge plays
0-2 when both Fox and George plays

Fox and George are not the difference in the series against the Spurs The Fakers don't need their combined 33% shooting percentage tonight. As a matter of fact, they are probably better off without it.
I agree with rilyman's earlier comments. While you have the long-time Laker faithful and residents of the L.A. area, a lot of "fans" of the Lakers are just poseurs & bandwagon jumpers. Same thing was true for Jordan's Bulls. People just like to associate themselves with a winner- especially those who either (a) have low self esteem, or (b) are just casual NBA fans.

Pretty soon, they'll all be jumping aboard the Spurs' bandwagon, because after this off-season, I think the Spurs are going to be dynasty material for the next few years.

...and any Lakers fans who try to diminish or lessen the Spurs accomplishemnts because of injuries need to quit while they are ahead. A team with Shaq & Kobe shouldn't have any excuses- I don't care if you've got Muggsy Boguies playing power forward for you! Plus, the same Laker fans were the ones saying the Spurs shouldn't be using Derek Anderson's injury as an excuse a few years ago...

Great article LakerDynasty2000!!

I for one don't feel the need to degrade the 'bandwagon' fans. A winning and championship team rightly deserves a larger number of fans - and there's nothing wrong with that.

Being in the playoffs creates a surge of support among fans of all classes. I've been a Spurs fan since the mid-70s, but I don't fly my Spurs flag July either.

The Lakers will always have a huge fan base because of the size of their metro area. The Spurs will never even come close, regardless of the number of championships they achieve. That's just simple demographics.

Im speaking about the bandwagon fans like this:

Say I come to this board and say...

SPURS SUCK D*CK!
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Lakers will win you suck

Nothing makes me more pissed than those fans, and as for the comment about taking George and Fox out. Don't worry about stats, if you look at stats, you will say this person is good when his stats are up, and this person is bad when their stats are down.

With them in the game, it would (of course) be a diff. series. Think about the injuries in the past, it could have been a different series with your players not injured. And maybe it is the luck of not being injured... Whatever it is, every player on the roster of any team will make a difference if injured, whatever anyone says...

Yes, teams of this caliber rely on every member of the squad.

Even having a strong bench player out makes a difference - imagine if we were missing say... Manu and Malik?

My feeling is that the Spurs can and should beat the Lakers with or without RF and DG. It might help shorten the series, but with all things being equal (the refs) I think it is much more likely than not, that a full strength Spurs would triumph over a full strength Lakers in a series of 7.

The Lakers have done little this year to show that they are on the level of the Spurs. They are in decline, and they were hardly dominant last season.
