Herb Moore says despite his glowering demeanor and his trash talking on the court during the current Spurs-Lakers series, Shaquille O'Neal has a soft spot in his heart for San Antonio.

Moore is the head basketball coach at San Antonio Cole High School, where O'Neal attended school, and where he led the basketball team to the state championship in 1989.

"He comes by, visits, and always calls," Moore told 1200 WOAI's Jeff Vexler.

Moore says O'Neal has never forgotten his high school, he buys sweat suits for the entire team, and often provides athletic shoes as well.

Moore says he dunked on the sewven foot four, 350 pound Lakers superstar a couple of times in high school.

"He won't admit it, and of course he dunked on me a whole lot more," Moore joked.

Moore says O'Neal is a soft touch for fans.

"Kids come up asking for an autograph or a picture, Shaq can be there eating dinner, but he'll stop and give them an autograph. He never lets a kid down."

Moore says San Antonians should take O'Neal's trash talking seriously. He says Shaq has been doing it since high school, and it's his way to sell tickets and increase interest in the game.
