When Spurs fans go bad...

When Spurs fans go bad...

Ever seen a Spurs fan act like a Laker fan? It's quite sad.
If any of you know spurz117 or bikermidget, feel free to tell them to find a new favorite team & stop giving the rest of us a bad name.

All sports teams have idiots as fans, including the Spurs. However, I have always been impressed by the clear leader in idiot fans by the fans of the Lakers.

Kirb, I think you are misinterpreting the quote. Collateral damage is a military term for the loss of innocent life.

For as much as that fan disliked the Lakers he never wished Chick any harm. The fan was basically saying they were sad to hear about Chick's passing.

Well - seems like if Tony Parker gets 20 pts a game this season...
-----------------------
My point wasn't the "haters"- it was the outlandish, unrealistic claims & childish antics of the 2 supposed Spurs' fans.
Strong convictions are one thing- acting like an ignorant ass is another.

Agreed. It's one thing to support your team; it's quite another to boost your team's players unrealistically. Rockets fans were really bad about this in the mid-90s; I can remember well the fellow who used to post about how "our bench is so deep, a guy like Pete Chilcutt would start for many other teams."

While Tony has potential and skills, and I am very glad the SPurs have him, I think the list of great PGs in the West is far too long to put him near the top of it yet.

Strong convictions are one thing- acting like an ignorant ass is another.

Well, the truth is you have to sort of "talk down" to the level of ISH posters because they are so accustomed to smack-talking and generally idiotic posts...especially some of the "regulars" f.e. the ones with over 1,000 posts. I noticed that shortly after I started posting there.

Where spurzfan300, or whatever the handle is, went wrong was simply downright trolling. For some unknown and strange reason the mods there allow all kinds of personal insults, but they really frown on the evil of spamming and trolling. On the surface you wouldn't think there is a difference between smack and trolling, but I think there is.

Smack: That's the stupidest post I've ever seen here at ISH. Please ban this loser.

Troll: Jermaine O'Neal is a WAY more dominant center than Shaquille O'Neal. He'll get to the HOF first. Shaq can't hold JO's jock.

But spurzfan was more discreet. He picked Tony Parker to boast about, saying he will be an all-star this year. That would be borderline between homer and troll, so it's hard for mods to judge, but I recognize it as trolling because the person knew how much people were hating on Spurs fans in there and seemed to do it to annoy and anger those posters.

Now I had a thread in which I proved statistically that Tony Parker was faster, quicker, AND more productive than Allen Iverson this year. Everyone there hated it. The idea seemed absurd to them, but after I laid down the stat-facts, everyone shut up.

I think that's the difference between my post and spurzfan300's.
--
